Well I installed a new CD player w/ back up camera the other day (JVC KDAVX1 I'll post pics asap) and every thing works great but now I have no gauge lights:( I checked the fuse (inst. in the cab)and its fine, so I used a test light and checked the fuse ports NO POWER??? Could I have unhooked somthing or is there another fuse some where that I don't know about.:help: All the lights on the out side of the truck work, but nothing on the dash???

Check your connectionds on the radio. Make sure tyhe "dimming" wire is hooked up right. A quick way to find out if that's the problem is unplug the radio wire harness. NEVER use a testlight on your truck, it can fry computers. Use a DMM instead...

Good Luck,
Ox

There was also another post where a guy had the same thing and fried the light switch in the cab due to faulty ground on the stereo harness. Also happened to me on my 2000. Worked fine until the lights came on at dark and then the dash lights went out. Hopefully yours is the dimmer wire or the ground rather than that light switch.

This is going to sound dumb.

Have you checked the "dimmer wheel" to see if it got rolled "off"?????

There is another fuse located in the engine compartment (30 amp) that controls the gauge lights. I've had to replace it because of a short in my trailer wiring that blew it. Fixed the short, replaced the fuse and gauge lights worked again.

Gittyup,
Look under-hood in the electrical center for the 30 amp fuse labeled "Park LP". That's the one that blew out on me when my trailer wiring shorted and it took out my dash lights. Whether that is responsible for your heated seats not working or not, I don't know. You might have another fuse in there that's blown. Hope this helps.

Well I figured out how it hapened. When I installed the new CD player there is an orange w/ white stripe wire for illumination to dim CD player lights when the headlights come on. In the trucks wireing harness there are 2 orange wires one w/ the white stripe one without. Guess witch one I used.... :( yeah the one without. From what I understand one is POS. and the other is NEG. so FYI always MATCH your wires. BTW I have since connected it the correct way.

So how much have I tore up  I can't find any blown fuses? No cooked wires? :help: I've ordered a new switch.

It any knows how to fix this or what I've done PLEASE:help2: :help2: :help2:

Thanks
