: Looking to drop a good bit of money on my LLY

Around January or so, I'm gonna drop some money on performance goodies for my LLY. I'm wanting to go with the ATS Aurora 3000 Turbo, a transmission, and some kind of very nice tuner. I don't want to get into a bottom end build, because I will still be driving this about every day. With that turbo, a good tuner, and proper fuel upgrades does anyone think I'll be able to make around the 500-600 RWHP and 1000 RWTQ range? That is the power I'm shooting for and I heard that as long as I stay in that range the bottom end will be okay. Does anyone have a personal experience with a setup like this? How much power can I make with that turbo and the right tuner and fuel upgrades? Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

personally:
ppe hot +2 or efi
suncoast trans by a reputable builder ex. mike l. or big dipper
good turbo upgrade ex. cheetah, aurora, garrett
lift pump: airdog, fass, ppe

that is a recipe for a solid 550-600hp truck depending on the tuning you get. you should be alright on stock internals with that combination. you totally left out the trans. pretty important to get that first. should be fine on stock sticks and cp3.

I would say a second CP3 with that 4094 turbo.

My buddy who has a well built Duramax told me to go with the PPE Hot + 2 and I did say I was getting a transmission, probably an ATS because of the warranty. And I'm probably gonna go with the Aurora 3000 I just mainly need to know what I need to do with the fuel system to keep up with that turbo and tuning. Thanks for all the help.

my bad guess i missed that part. extra cp3 will be beneficial. lift pump very helpful as well.

Keep in mind that it's just my opinion, but stay away from a second cp3 with a stock bottom end. If you don't, you may be doing a full build later. I would go with twins myself. The only tuning I would consider would be EFI live.

It's easy to put money into one of these things. First do the transmission. Then get EFI which will do everything any other will do and much more.....it can also be changed to work with anything you could possibly do to the engine. Have Rob do your tune(s). Get a lift pump. If you can afford it, do an MPI twin setup using your stock turbo. Nathan's done more of these twin kits than everyone else combined and they work beautifully. The engine isn't overstressed and makes lots of power, enough to beat most anything around.

Why do you want the Aurora 3000? I haven't heard much good about it.

I agree with Utahski. If you want a nice driving 600 HP with low EGTs, go with a set of compounds from MPI. That, a good EFI tune, a lift pump, and built trans will do 600 HP with ease.

twins would be sweet but quite a bit more $$

Suncoast stg IV

With an LLY I recommend and built trany, set of injectors, cp3 upgrade and one of my Stg2 chargers and tuning and you will be were you want to be. I have several single pump trucks over 600rwhp with my injectors 2.6 Stg2 and tuning.

Stock injectors, stock CP3, the smallest charger you build, intake, exhaust, built trans.

A4k, built trans, some cp3 pump work, lift pump and someone who can tune it right and you will be right there.

x2 on this. I was at 602hp and 1112tq single pumped before I went to dual cp3's. And my mods when I was single pumped are still in my sig!!!:D

I am in this camp. You do not need bigger injectors and CP3 mods let alone dual CP3 pumps to make 500 HP. Bigger injectors and CP3 upgrades only lead to broken engines. Yes, it is true that you can run a mild tune with those, but why? If you have that much fuel available you will want to use it and then you break things. Do a transmission that can handle the power, intake, exhaust, fuel feed pump, strong tune, and upgrade your stock turbo, and you will be happy! The 3000 charger is a good towing charger, but you will loose the variable vain technology you have now.
