I'm unfamiliar with the new cummins.. What kind of times can one run on programs alone? What about a $2000 budget?? Thanks...

Don't know times. Never raced mine officially. Stock RWHP is about 270.
My TST ran about $850. Exhaust.. $400. Intake and turbo silencer mods are free.

Thanks hoot.. I like my Duramax a lot.. I went by the Dodge dealership today where a couple of my buddies work, and just felt like trying something different.. I built my 12 valve to race, so I'm not going to make the max any faster.. I actually put the max on ebay today.. If it sells, I'm going to get a cummins dually to haul around the 12 valve.. I had an offer of 32,500 for it a couple months ago, so I set the reserve at 32250.... The guys have already located a black 4x4 sport dually for me.. I kind of hate getting rid of it, because they are so easy to make fast, and the engine hasn't ever given me any trouble... We'll see...

It's a Cummins thing. GM trucks are nice but the Dodge is a little more fun to play around with.

Lakingslayer.. My duramax is awesome.. My last "new" truck before the max was a superduty dually.. I then traded for the max.. I just like to change things up from time to time.. My old 7.3 was a great truck.. It wasn't near as fun as the max, though it was a nice ride.. The cummins is the only one of the big three that I haven't bought new.. I figured I'd buy one and play with it for a couple years.. I'll probably then be ready to try something different again.. As long as it's diesel, I'm up for trying it..

Glad to see your opinoin "as long as its a diesel, I'm up for trying it" I have had the d-max and the cummins. My dad has a 7.3. I finally talked him into trying one. He won't admit its the way to go, but I noticed he does like to make the turbo whistle!

If you get a cummins give it 15,000 miles before you make any judgements on it. I hated mine until it got broke in. Now I love it more and more as I drive it.

I have not run times yet. It seems a little slower (I'll probably get axed for this) than the d-max on WOT takeoff's but does pull better under load. Just my .02 worth.(and thats not much....LOL)

Morse, I understand. When I first read it I was confused to see you wanted to go to a Dodge when you said nothing but good things about your Duramax. I hope you have as good of luck with the Dodge as you had with the Duramax.

I've just gotta see if the Duramax sells first.. I may not be trading at all if it doesn't bring the money.. I think it will have to be someone that knows how much performance parts cost (like the tranny) to be a buyer.. We'll see..

A little tip if you do end up trading....

I had them appraise my 01 GMC... after I made the deal I asked if I could take a few things off of it. The salesman told me to remove any aftermarket parts I wanted as it didn't make a difference in appraisal and it would be going to auction. I got $22,000 for my 01 last year with 75,000 miles on it. I got a bunch back selling off some of the addons.
