i just bought this truck for 1000$ bucks its a 95 suburban c2500 4x4 great body just did the interior now to the motor work.. so far i haven't spent and money on the truck besides buying. The truck didn't run right from the get go. when i start it up it has a crazy idle it will red-line for a sec then it bounces from 500 to 1500 back and fourth and will continue to do this until i turn it off. If I hit the gas it does nothing but red-line or doesn't affect it at all. I cant trust any local mechanics cause they all are very stingy and try to take me to the BANK. I know my SBC & BBC & Imports but never a diesel. Never to late to learn. I enclosed the check list. I am welcome to all response's.

Welcome to the site.

Looking at your symptoms I would have to say PMD failure. Can you find a known good one to plug in and try to start the truck?
Another thing could be the pump itself has gone south, but the PMD is where I would start. Hope this helps.

Spend some time reading up in the 6.5 section regarding these engines. You will be amazed with all the info. you'll find.

Good luck.

i am going to pick up a pmd from a shop down south from me on friday. hopefully it works, where is a good place to find a cheap reman?

PMD are used or new, not reman.
See if you get a buddy in the area who can try a spare PMD.
If the PMD is the culprit, forget the "used but good ones" and buy a new one.
You can find some on eBay for $176.00

That being said, I'd rather vote for an injection pump failing.

But try PMD first, better to try to fix starting from the cheaper...

Just like matuva said, the IP is more likely the problem.
