My trailer harness works fine including the trailer brakes. I am trying to get power out of the trailer plug to use for my winch and charging a battery on the trailer. I have no power coming out of the trailer plug at that pin. There HAS got to be a fuse missing somewhere and I can't find it!!!
Where is it??? I assume it's one of those big mothers!!
Thanks guys!

IN the fuse panel under the hood, there is a shunt in place of a fuse in the very front passenger side of the fuse panel. Replace that shunt with a fuse.

Harness should have had a fuse fastened to it. Had to install the fuse in the fuse block under the hood on drivers side. Don't recall if it was 30 or 40 amp. Empty socket for fuse was in the middle of the block toward the back. There is a diagram on the lid, but the owners manual gives better info. Hope this helps.

What they said is right. I thought the fuse block was the one closest to the front of the hood, and at the top (the side closest to the engine itself) - thus, "very front passenger side." My 05 had a piece of tape over the block (the shunt), take that tape off, remove the shunt and plug in the fuse. Like they said, the fuse should be taped to your wiring harness (the one that goes to a brake controller). If you bought your truck with the trailering option, you will already have this harness and it will probably be in your glovebox.
Clear as mud, right? :)

Thanks!
When I installed my new brake controller it came with a new harness with a factory GM end on it. I saw the fuse taped to the OEM harness and knew it went somewhere. I'll chekc for that slot in the box. It just seemed like all of the fuses on the drivers side underhood fuse panel where real small style fuses..

Yeah, this is a "block" type fuse. Most of the ones in the underhood fuse panel are mini-blade style fuses, but this one and maybe four others are the big ones (they look like relays, actually).

Do a search on here, last week or so I asked the same question and somebody put up a picture with a big circle where the fuse goes. It was real easy to do after the pictures.

Found it! Weird looking fuses! Through me for a loop!
