whats up guys! been toss'n around the idea of removing my muffler. looked around the threads to see the pros and cons of doing it. really didnt find much, mostly everyone is concerned how it sounds. basically want to know if power and toruqe is lost or gained. does the motor need back pressure, heard that the turbo could possibly over spool with no back pressure. well thanks in advance for any info you guys can give....

I'm pretty sure diesels don't have the need for backpressure like gas trucks. I have no idea about overspooling the turbo, I've never heard of anyone having that problem.
Definitely no loss in power in any way though, and it sounds way better IMO.

I don't have a cat or muff on my lbz and love it. I have always been told the best exhaust for a turbo is no exhaust.

YoU won't regret it. Just be carefull the fact that your in so cal and the smog police are out there now. Just food for thought. You don't have a dpf like the new ones but I believe if you do take the cat and the muffler off and get caought there is possabley a fine

Well got it done yesterday and noticed a couple things. sound is good, wasnt the main reason for removing the muffler. turbo is responsive / spools quicker. lost some bottom end when taking off and i think some top end not sure tho. did see a drop in EGTs during freeway speeds. at 70 - 75 mph w muffler egts at 900 and now between 800 -850.
