Hey,

Just installed my HID's, bought the 6000k. They look awesome, not really as blue as some people say, I like them. One problem that seems to be bugging me is that they don't seem to shining very far. I'm starting to think that the halogen bulbs shined further. I have a 6 inch lift in the truck and didn't want to raise the beam to far up cause of other people on the road. I don't have projectors, just regular headlights. Anybody got any answers or suggestions?

Thanks

Find your adjusters under the hood. Get the proper tool and drive around at night and adjust them until they are on the road where they are supposed to be. It'll take a few tries to get them right.

Right now, they are in everyones eyes.

ok, ill try that out tonight. Do projectors have anything to do with how far the light shines?

Haven't tried them.

Remember that with a lift, you have taken some of the distance away already. They have to shine DOWN farther in addition to AHEAD. Low beams are not really designed to shine TOO far ahead, as they would be too bright. Hard to get light focused that far ahead, unless they are "pencil" beam - aftermarket aux lights.

You definitely have more light available now. The trick with your model of headlight housing is getting the light on the road in an efficient manner. It can be done, but takes awhile. Took a few nights to get my wife's '04 Yukon squared away.

Also make sure all three "tangs" of the bulbs are seated in the housings. If the bulb is in crooked, you won't get the light you want.

NBS lights take NO adjustment at all. They are absolutely perfect with HIDs, just as they are.

NBS lights?

Adjusted them a little tonight, probably will take a few more tweaks here and there. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the light isn't as "bold" as some others. My cousins audi has projectors and 4300k HID's and shines furthers and look a lot bolder. Mine just looks kinda "scattered" and "blurry". There's definitely a lot more light. thats for sure.

I dont plan on buying projectors cause I run strobe lights in my headlights right now and don't feel like dropping some money into projectors and drilling into them to put the strobes in. Will the HID in my headlight affect other on coming drivers on the road severely? I don't want to be blinding people, especially cops.

NBS = New Body Style

Projectors would, I'm sure, help, but you really can dial in yours to do quite well. If you get projectors, you would want to get the good ones, as the cheapies are just that - cheap.

If you haven't touched your adjustment yet, I promise yours are obnoxious right now. I drove towards the wife's when I had put them in and hers is LOWERED and they were not even close. You had to squint and turn away or be blinded. They are also 6000s.

Just adjust them until you see the light on the road you want.

On a lifted truck it definitly helps to do the fogs also they r closer to the ground.

Where did you get your kit from?

Projectors WILL help but there is only one set out there I personally would buy and they are about $400 set. Not sure if they make em for your bodystyle but I know they do mine. Sylvania Xenarc Makes em.

In my opinion, talk with Mad Maxx and listen to what he has to say. He knows his stuff when in comes to HIDs. I asked him 9 million questions before I purchased mine and listened to what he said. I couldn't be happier with my decision. He will steer you right! Thanks again Mad Maxx!

How far is your visibility with the HID's?
