I just picked up another 6.2 to put in my 83 1/2 ton chassis. The only problem is that it came out of a 1985 one ton truck and it has emissions. What all will have to be done to make this work? Thanks in Adavance!

Put it in without modifying the emissions. You can buy a factory "Light Duty Truck 10 -30 Series Shop Manual" from Ebay or new one from

http://www.Helminc.com

and get ALL of the details.

you can tear all that emmisions shit off of there if you want to or just unhook the EGR valve and plug both lines that way the EGR wont open. main reason is most of the time the EGR causes more problems than it solves

We are talking about a 1985 1 ton VIN J engine. For those who are not familiar with the VIN J engines, the only emission device on it is the Crankcase Depression Regulator (CDR). Its function is to keep a slight vacuum in the crankcase and expel the gasses into the intake manifold and burn them with the fuel.

If you disconnect this system, you will allow the crankcase to become pressurized and start blowing out your valve cover gaskets and any other gaskets which are in contact with the internal pan gasses. This is why I recommended you install the new engine as removed.

Just tape off the wiring that went to your EGR and EPR valves as your new engine does not have them. The only wiring modification you may need is your glow plug relay. I would have to look at a schematic to determine what if anything is needed.

I'll solve all your issues, everything will hook up just like factory. You send me that "incorrect" J code and I'll send you a "correct" C code. he he he

Would anyone happen to have a wiring diagram? On the new harness I got with the engine, there are no hookups for my existing starter or solenoid. Thank you very much!
