It tests the most popular additives. I use Amsoil because I get it at cost. It's up to you what you want to use though.

as far as fuel additives go i use Amsoil Desel Consentrate 1 ounce per 5 gallons, I have an '05 2500hd w/ 61,000 miles no problems as of now, useing a fuel add. replaces the lubrericty that has been removed by the use of ULSD Diesel hope this is helpful.

Soypower! 12oz ea fill up. No MPG increase, but it quieted down the injectors. No scientific stuff here, but I did notice after going through 10 to 16 tanks of diesel, the motor seemed to slowly gain better throttle responce and faster cranktime. After 25 tanks of diesel I changed the fuel filter. The filter was the worst looking filter that I had ever pulled from this motor. Filling up at the same truck stop. Since then the filters have been basically clean looking after 20k mile change intervals. Any form of biodiesel will clean better then most, plus lubricate better. Spicers test pretty much proved that.

Look at-->www.lubecontrol.com
They changed the FP60 to a soy based addtive as well...

I run a little Diesel Kleen when I think about it. Not religiously.

How important is it to use an additive? I drive an LMM that was supposedly designed to run on ULSD and I know they have to add a lubricity additive to fuel before it can be sold. So that would lead me to believe that the truck should be designed to handle the less lubricity and running an additive no longer becomes necessary but sure doesnt hurt anything. I am considering getting some amsoil additive to help keep things clean every couple of tanks but I am not going to run it religiously Amsoil already has enough of my money this month====> converted all the fluids to Amsoil. Thoughts? Now if I can gain an improvment in economy that is a different story but I dont recall seeing or reading any "proof" of that happening.

Hey got pics of your pinstripes? See my garage for mine.

I run Stanadyne like a preacher, but without it - same MPG. I also run 1/2 to 1 gallon of B100 per tank which is great for keeping the fuel system clean and for lubricity.

But no - niether should be needed - but could be - see the lubricity study, partial quote below from the study.

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177728

All ULSD fuel purchased at retail fuel stations SHOULD be adequately treated with additives to replace this lost lubricity. The potential result of using inadequately treated fuel, as indicated above, can be catastrophic. There have been many documented cases of randomly tested samples of diesel fuel. These tests prove that often times the fuel we purchase is not adequately treated and may therefore contribute to accelerated wear of our fuel delivery systems. For this reason it may be prudent to use an after market diesel fuel additive to ENSURE adequate lubrication of the fuel delivery system. Additionally, many additives can offer added benefits such as cetane improver, and water separators or emulsifiers.

I will use power service once in a while... I used to deliver fuel for the company I buy my diesel from and know how fanatical he is about his diesel fuels. However when I travel I will use it religiously to be sure.
