Dose anybody know the specs for the mimium shock length to not need extension brackets?

It depends how much you crank the truck. You really don't get any additional lift out of them..........until you crank. Basically the most you'll get over stock, without keys is around 2". Measure a stock set and add 2" and you should be good. measure extended length of course. I think I have an old set lying around here I could measure up for you.

Most shocks will go by "2" over stock", or "for 2-3" lifted applications".

I'm not sure where I am compared to stock height. I need to redo the upper arm bushings due to an accident and I want to increase wheel travel more than lift it. It's already pretty high.

If you could measure a stocker that would be much appreciated I don't have mine anymore. I have Rancho shocks and they extend to 15.125" and collapse to 12.5". I would like to know how that compares to the stock shock length. I know travel at the shock and wheel are different.

I just talked to the tech line at Cognito. The guy had no idea. All he could tell me is that stock length shocks are to short. He doesn't know how long that would be.
