: Wont start when hot...

So I did a search and came up with a few things but nothing exactly like all the problems I have.

The truck is a stock '04 3500 with about 105,000. This is the second summer of this problem but it is much worse so far this year.
The truck runs fine all winter but as soon as the temps get up to 100 the truck will not start after an hour or so on the freeway. It will prime and start eventually, fuel is right at the top and only a couple of pumps starts the fuel flowing. It is REALLY hot fuel coming out of the bleed screw, perhaps that is normal.
Yesterday was a first, ran about an hour on the freeway, pull up to a stop light and it dies. Get out and prime the crap out of it and it finally starts. Put a new filter on it yesterday just in case that may have been the problem, old one had less than 2000 miles and no water in it. It does it again today. It's got a new bleed screw and the housing head looks intact. the fuel lines look O/K. from what I can see. The filter head is $500.00 and I would like to see if there are any other folks out there with the same problems before I going replacing parts. The dealer in my town is honest, but of no use on this, they have seen it twice to no avail.

Any ideas? Thanks!

the dealer needs to see if the filter head holds vacuum...any fuel component on supply side that fails to hold vacuum is faulty...

The filter head is $500.00

Just a thought but I installed a Carter fuel pump it sure made it simple to prime the system and it might cure you issue or even help find the real problem...? Alot cheaper too...
