: 2010 Emission Requirements
Z71LMM 07-22-2009, 03:47 PM They will be building the 2009 until September and then build the 2010 with the current emissions starting in October until the first quarter of 2010. They will not be building anything until late first quarter or early second quarter when they startup with the "new" emission requirements and the truck will still be a 2010. My dealer has been advised to let his customers know this so they will not be surprised when there is a delivery delay if they order one to be built during the first quarter of 2010. There is also supposed to be a price increase due to the new emission requirements
cdn111 07-22-2009, 07:02 PM per my other post..look for $4500 on the sticker..lets just call it an obama fee
05silverado912 08-09-2009, 03:11 PM You really cant call it an Obama fee. The new emissions were pretty much already developed and being tested even when the 07 emissions came out. I did training through Detroit Diesel late in 07 on the 2010 round of EPA changes.
yitsock 08-10-2009, 06:58 PM I currently work Detroit Diesel. EPA, not Obama... be glad you don't drive a Freightliner! A little more than 5k on the sticker for 2010!!
youknowp 08-14-2009, 05:34 PM so does it seem odd that the increase is the same as the cash for clunker rebate.

Someone has to pay ....
Califxr 09-01-2009, 01:41 AM Will Urea come on all 2010s or just those built after Jan 1st.
Gene
MTU alum 09-01-2009, 09:02 AM Urea will come on engines built after Jan 1. Who knows the exact date it will hit the trucks.
dpower 09-01-2009, 09:40 PM per my other post..look for $4500 on the sticker..lets just call it an obama fee
Add 4500 to the sticker and they will have a hard time sellin especially in these lean times. That means a basic lt will be 50,000 plus! I have owned 10 diesel pickups in the past 10 years and I will not pay that kind of money.......a gasser becomes more and more attractive at that sticker
Freighttrain80 09-05-2009, 01:37 PM Is this liquid Urea?
yitsock 09-07-2009, 03:36 PM Yes, liquid Urea.
LETHAL WEAPON 09-10-2009, 12:47 PM per my other post..look for $4500 on the sticker..lets just call it an obama feeHere is one better
AN E.P.A. FEE:mad::mad:
Lead Foot 09-10-2009, 08:26 PM So we will need two EGR Blocker plates Instead of one......
Now what can we do with that tank LOL.....
It would make one hellava meth injection tank :~)

I like the way you think.
pgore 09-11-2009, 12:14 PM How often will the Urea need to be refilled?
Lead Foot 09-12-2009, 12:08 PM How often will the Urea need to be refilled?
I read the tank was Big enough to only need to be filled every Oil change...
I Think the tank will be around 5 gallons My Guess and from the looks of it in pictures mounted on the frame....
One thing that i think is a Negative is they show it mounted on the Drivers side i believe! We already have to much weight on the Drivers side with the fuel tank itself,Now the add another 40# Pounds to it :(
I have read were others have the leaning truck, leaning to the drivers side!
This may be some of the reason they are going up on the front end capacity.... that and changing the front to a better ride which it needs.IMHO
I wish they would Change the Roof also For 2010 ,The ridges in the roof on the Extra cabs are Up-side down ...that was a real brain fart!!!
it holds water and trash if it sits...... The crew cabs are done right with the ridges pointing up...
My main three Gripes ,Ride Quality,Roof Ridges, and the Durn Frame beaming!!!
other than that i Think GM has a Winner !
lonestar scout 09-13-2009, 10:48 AM hello, I am new to diesel trucks. I just purchased a very clean 07 classic With the LBZ engine. I hope it was a good choice. I would like to know if it is possible to get 22mpg when i am not towing. I bought it to tow a fifth wheel trailer that i recently purchased.
JLiska50 09-13-2009, 12:34 PM I know Audi has a set up on their Q7 TDI (diesel) SUV's that if the "Exhaust fluid" goes empty, IT WILL NOT START! I don't know if the trucks will be like that, but I think that's what everything is going to. I don't necessarily have that big of a problem with emissions testing in general, but I think it's getting wayyyyyy too controlling. Unless some of the tuning companies can develop tunes or programs that help us get around that, I will not even THINK about buying one of these newer trucks.
Prophet 09-19-2009, 10:55 PM Wonder if this is something that can be "tuned' out with future EFI Live...?

azoilburner 10-05-2009, 03:24 PM Maybe this will drive up values on early model trucks...:) he he he
Califxr 10-05-2009, 03:34 PM I finally got my order in for my new truck last thurs. 3500 Crewcab longbed diesel 4x4. I hope it doesn't come with dia urea.

kingcrete 10-05-2009, 03:48 PM I know for sure the new 2010 ford 6.7 powerstroke use's urea and Will not start if the urea tank is empty, And there going back to a single turbo.
XTINCT 10-05-2009, 10:18 PM Maybe this will drive up values on early model trucks...:) he he he
It already has....alot.
Duramax 6.6L 10-06-2009, 11:11 PM I know for sure the new 2010 ford 6.7 powerstroke use's urea and Will not start if the urea tank is empty, And there going back to a single turbo.
The new ford diesel is quite an engine. It will be a single turbo with compound inlets. one exhaust side housing and two compressor housings back to back, making a compound turbo on the pressure side.
Lead Foot 10-07-2009, 09:45 PM It don't matter what Ferd puts under that Ulgy hood.cause did i mention the hoods fugly and the fuel door looks like a Freaking breaker box!
from what i've seen GM is putting the fill spout for the Urea under the Hood this will keep the Diesel fill cap about the same size! we can only Pray!!!

I'd wait until it's released before praising it. I LOVE my F450 but the 6.4 has given me issues...and it was hyped too.
I HOPE Ford get it right as they're the only one offering a 1.5t factory PU, and it's low enough to fit in my garage. With a 6-speed and a top quality diesel engine it'll be hard to resist another even though I was very impressed with my buddy's LMM I recently drove. GM did good with their NBS trucks no doubt.

lemaricc 10-21-2009, 07:17 PM I just spent some time reading around about this new system. Here is a couple of facts.
1. It freezes at 11F
2. The durmax is going to get roughly 600 miles to the gallon of Urea.
3. Running about $3.00 to $6.00 a gallon.
I'm glad I bought my 07 when I did!

Do you have a picture of your wife?:D
Cause I'm starting to Question your Taste :p::D
Duramax 6.6L 10-22-2009, 01:13 PM I saw the write up on the new Ford diesels, Basically it is the 4.5L Duramax but at 6.7L.
They put more head bolts in, exhaust exits in the lifter valley directly into the turbo. Single exhaust housing, double inlet housing on one turbo. CP3/Bosh injection, only problem I see is the the intake is part of the valve covers and uses o-rings to seal. High boost this may cause a problem.
Montana Mike 10-22-2009, 02:19 PM It being a Furd is the problem. :D Mike
azoilburner 10-22-2009, 04:24 PM Its kinda like the old saying about fat chicks being more fun in bed because they work harder.... By the way Lead, have you ever actually WORKED your truck, or just pulled toys around with it?
