Been wanting to do this to mine, just want some details from those of you who have done this install on your CC/SB. What was the cost alone, and with the install. (or did you install it yourself?) Where did you buy the tank, and was the install straightforward with no problems and/or surprises? So, do the advantages outweigh the initial cost? Any details, tips, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! PS: Why in HELL do they put such a small tank in these trucks stock???? :wtf1:

I have put several of them in here at work. I have it down to about 2.5 hours now. It is alot easier on a hoist though. The instuctions blow. The hardware has usually fallen out of it's box and is probably rolling around the back of a UPS truck somewhere. The brass fittings will all leak unless you pipe jizz them before installing the tank. No matter how many vents you install, it will always spit a little fuel out when the pump shuts off (stand back) You will need to sawzall the unused vapor canister bracket off of the frame to get the tank in. Two of the allen screws that hold in the fuel sender ring are unaccessable with the sender in place, they need to be replaced with regular 1/4X20X1" bolts. The metal box and brackets that hold the tank in place are very cheesy and look terrible from the side of the truck.... I am sure there is more, but I have told our parts department to get a Transferflow next time, I need to compare the two.

Supertanks (www.supertanks.com) had a huge overstock of the outdated LB7 tanks when I bought mine, and they probably still have some left. The newer ones are smaller (55 gal?) because they allow you leave in the fuel cooler-- thus less volume for fuel storage. My 62 gal tank was $500 + $94 shipping to Illinois. I was charged $448 to have it installed by local mechanic (5-6 hours labor?) Others have done it themselves in 4 hours.

Ditto what Max Payne said, I installed mine myself, took about 6 hrs. the sending unit is differant on the LLY if you tow long distances well worth the cost and yes teflon tape all the brass fittings. I painted the gavanized pan flat black you can hardly see the tank from the side.:grd:
