I came across this (http://www.overclockers.com/tips1201/) interesting how-to article that uses a GM truck as the Guinea pig. Too bad I already bought a converter for my notebook.:rolleyes:

That is sweet, I have an inverter in my center console, but his way looks so much cooler.

Nice instructions. I did a similar install. Remote switch in the overhead console. 4 ga wire from the terminal block (the red box under the hood) to a 75a marine DC breaker to the invertor under the rear seat. It powers the installed PC, or anything else I plug in.

Watch the amps. Invertors use about 1 A per 10W of output power. A 750W invertor needs 75A of service and the wiring to match.

good call on wiring advice cit1991, easy way to start a fire is to use too small of wire.
