: AC Recirculation Button
b_gable 05-11-2005, 09:34 PM Is it just me or do others find it annoying that each time you start the truck you have to press the AC recirculation button. I can push it so it is on then when I turn the truck off it gets reset to off. I prefer to recirculate the already cooled air rather than try to cool off the outside air before blowing it in the cab.
Is there anyway to change this and make it stay on?
Thanks
Brad
I have no problem with it. In the Summer the truck temp inside will be hotter than the air temp. Easier to cool the inside using the air from outside. That's why they do that.
Of course this condition only exists for a minute or 2.
jim_bo 05-23-2005, 01:52 PM It bugs me also. Recirculated air is the fastest/most efficient way to cool off your interior. I just keep hitting the button.

leaky 06-02-2005, 11:12 PM My 2003 Silverado 2500HD also does this. It is perhaps the most annoying feature of the vehicle.
The entire interior, the mirrors, the seat position settings, whether the AC is left on or off, the exact temperature setting, what stations are programmed on the radio, the individual bass and trebble settings of eached station programmed on the Bose radio system, which station is being listened to or which CD track is being played are all remembered by the computers when either I or my wife turns off the engine. Then when either of us opens the door with our remotes or pushes the Driver 1/2 button all of these settings are returned . All except for the Censored AC Recirculate setting. This is great. There could be a TSB to fix this just as there was a TSB to reduce the brightness of the Censored blinding high beam indicator lamp!
GTFD736 06-03-2005, 11:12 AM Yes, but when you push the A/C botton it goes ahead and switches it to the vent in the dash if you had it anywhere else. Just think of it pushing less buttons in the long run.
Does any notice that some of the button for the heat/AC sometimes you have to push them twice to get them to work?

I do.
Newtorving 06-17-2005, 12:22 AM I checked mine this evening, before I turn the truck off, I turn the A/C off. When I get back in and turn the A/C on, the recirculate also comes back on.
Gable, when you shut your truck off, is the A/C on?
My A/C is the dual manual control. Maybe that makes a difference?
Minn-Kota 06-17-2005, 10:39 AM Yeah, sometimes I have to push a button more than once for it to work. Mostly the Off button is the one that gives me problems. Oh, and the temperature knob is flakey too. The temp on the display kinda wanders around and then it seems to catch up to the direction your taking it. This usually happens in the winter I found when I get in and crank it to 80.
I had auto climate control in a '89 LeBaron and that was a PITA too. Never kept you at a decent temp. These trucks have the solar sensor which helps compensate for direct sunshine, but I don't like how the automatic mode directs the air. Running down the interstate in the middle of January with a strong wind and my feet are on fire while my upper body is cold. So to blend, it has to come off of Auto. Kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?
VC-17 06-17-2005, 10:55 AM I had my A/C on the other day, recirculation was also on, stopped for haircut, was out of the truck for 30 minutes, I did not shut off the A/C b4 turning off truck. Started truck w/ A/C on, a few seconds later, recirc came on automatically. On the way home, stopped for fuel, turned off truck when A/C and recirc was on, after fueling, started truck, A/C came on and a few seconds later recirc came on without me pushing the button. Wondering if there is a memory if recirc comes on automatically if truck is turned on within a certain amount of time. HMMMMM.
Nosparks 06-17-2005, 11:37 AM It seems to me that if the temperature difference between the outside and the cab is too large, the recirc comes on automatically (assuming the climate control is on auto). I've also noticed that you have to push twice sometimes . . .
_MJB_ 06-17-2005, 12:00 PM My truck always remembers the state (on or off) that the A/C and recirculation fuctions were set at when the truck was shut off. I have the two zone manual climate control though and not the automatic system that it seems most have.

Wondering if there is a memory if recirc comes on automatically if truck is turned on within a certain amount of time. HMMMMM. Mine does the same thing- it will turn the recirculate back on after a little while. I always thought the computer was looking at inside and outside temp to make a decision. It does no good the run the recirc. if the inside temp is as hot or hotter than the outside temp. :exactly:
ande6009 06-26-2005, 02:41 AM When I set my auto a/c to 60 degrees, and it is hot inside or out, the computer automatically selects the recirc feature. Then when it cools off it shuts down the recirc feature automatically.
I removed my a/c controls 2 weeks ago and removed all the factory green lights and soldered in new blue led's.
Since i've done this the recirc feature will not turn on, so the a/c doesn't blow as hard or cold now (this sucks because it is summertime in FL now). When I say turn on I mean the light lights up but it doesn't change the fan speed and temp like usual.
I've changed out all of the interior lights, even the 4x4 buttons and the onstar in the rearvierw mirror...nothing has gone wrong yet. Hate to take it to the dealership and get a new unit and have to do it all over again. Maybe it is not showing the proper voltage or something. They wouldnt even know about the blue lights if I took it during the day!!
Sorry to jump from item to item, does this even make sense???
Heartbeat Hauler 06-28-2005, 07:00 PM I hate the fact that you can only use recirc in certain blower positions. I would love to be able to use it for heating also...there's so dang much cold air coming in when not in recirc.

txguppy 07-02-2005, 11:31 PM Yea this feature is one of my pet peeves. I always use Recirculate, not only for cooling, but to keep the stink of oil burning Mexican jalopies out of my cab.
Buckeye03 07-04-2005, 11:40 AM I've paid attention to mine latley and it stays on most of the time. I did try and turn it on once and it blinked a few times then went off. It probably has something to do with the temperature difference inside and out, but I haven't figured it out yet.

I not sure but it will not recirc if you are defrosting because it causes the windows to fog up...90% positive thats what I read. Its in the manual though!!:D
problemchild 09-25-2005, 10:54 AM It goes off to pump fresh air through it to avoid that MOLD SMELL the old cars used to get.
