Just pulled the fuel pump out od the 6.2 There is a rod that looks like it runs all the way to the block does the fuel pump shafy ride on top of this shaft? I hope so because I tried tapping the engine and it sure doesn't move. Is this a push rod. Any suggestions would help. Also there looks like a small adaptor plate or something wiyh 10 mm bolts on it once I removed the pump. Does this have to be removed to install pump.?

Remove the plate under the pump, the push rod will slide out easily. Clean them both up, put a generous amount of grease on one end of the pushrod to hold it in place and push it back in, replace the plate, use silicone, and you shouldn't have any problems getting the Lift Pump back in after that, use silicone on it too.

Thanks, Yhe book I have doesn't adequetly explain it. I installed it on top the rod. It ran until i emptied the lines out now it won't start. Probably screwed the pump. I'll do that (What you explained) in the AM. Boy now I have to bleed everything again can hardly wait.

By the way by lift pump did you mean fuel pump? and does that arm fit on the front of the rod or on top?

Same thing.

and does that arm fit on the front of the rod or on top?

Rod pushes the arm, so it goes on front.

After I followed the instructions provided here then rebled the system it fired right up seems to be the ticket. Thanks again guys. The book I have doesn't say anything about how to do this but it seems to be okay so far. Thanks again
