Hi Guys- Well I bought an 02 2500 HD 1 month ago and it seems like lately it has started to shudder/heavy vibrate when starting out and again anywhere between 1600-2400 rpm. It did'nt do this when I first got it, any Ideas would be appreciated. I tow a 2400lb. trailer and 6500 lb. skidloader almost daily. Also it is a Crew cab long box with the Duramax/Allison. Maybe this is normal, I don't know, but since it was't like this before it seems odd. If you need more info let me know - Thank you

Fuel filter? Air filter? Injectors? These are a few of my favorite things ...
These are the thoughts that come into my head. Keep us posted on what you find.

Just changed fuel and air filters- was afraid you might say injector. However it does'nt seem like an engine shudder more of a vibration in th driveshaft, but like I said I dont really have a clue. Does the injectors cause a vibration you can feel in the cab ( change and cell phone almost vibrate off middle console)? It runs smooth outside of the ranges i specified, also once I reach 4th it seems ok. This is my main work truck so I don't want it in the shop for 2 weeks if it doesnt need to be.

I am sure others that have knowledge oozing out of their pores will pipe in. Good luck.

Have your U joints checked, not just for play, have the driveshaft removed and have the joints checked for easy movment.

That bulletin does not apply to long bed crew cab. Only applies to extended cab long bed and crew short bed.

check carrier bearing, if OK, try shimming carrier down with front end shims, works fairly well esp. on lifted trucks. I use 1/8" shims and go 1 at a time(each side), on 1 truck I had to use a 1/32" (picky customer)
I have a similar issue that has started occurring with my 04 Sierra 2500HD Duramax except it has chosen 42mph for its worst shuddering. It starts building up at 40 and is gone by 45 on acceleration or the opposite on braking. If we're driving somewhere between 40-45mph, then we're just shudderin down the road. Everything else seems to run fine at all other speeds. Any ideas would be appreciated. JGK
