I did a search but either I did not put in the correct search terms or I did something wrong. If it has already been discussed in this forum let me know and I will try searching again (search words/phrase appreciated). I'm not concerned with which one is considered "better", but just what are the differences.

My question is what are the differences between the motors?
Are the blocks the same (does the 24v use 1 pushrod to push two valves)?
I know the heads are different between the 12v and 24v (obviously more valves), but what about the HPCR heads (closer to 12v, 24v, or completely different)?
Fuel pumps (I've heard alot of talk about those being the big difference). Will the pump from a 12v fit a 24v or vice versa. Will the same aftermarket pumps fit both?

Just curious as I know how diesel engines work in theory compared to a gasser, but was wondering what the differences between the 3 gens of Cummin's are. Also is the HPCR capable of the same power once a fuel system is designed to feed it the necessary fuel or is there other limitations.

Again sorry if this has already been discussed.

Thanks,
Chris

Holy crap..... you want the book answer?
You can mechanically P-Pump (7100 as 24V Block) provided you get the mech pump cam to drive it.
A Stage3 head 12Valve by haisley will only marginally be better flowing than a stage2 24 V head.
You can make almost anything fit on a CTD if you got the $$$$$ as there have not been major changes to the block, other than ETHDEE having oil squirters on pistons and the ETC not.... some minor piston differences in rings....
but actually 4 gens of CTD
Gen1 Rotary VE Pump
Gen 2 P series pumps CLP 140~180 and the infamous P7100
Gen 3 VP-44 Pumps (semi full authority timing and inject quantity)
Gen 4 CP3/110 HPCR Pumps

Anything special you trying to do with your CTD?
I would ask at the nwbombers.com or tdr1.com

You need to have some idea what you want before we can help.
Puller
Dragger
D Driver
All the above?
Trailer Queen?

Call Scott at Mass Diesel (supporting vendor here)
He can help you out.
If i were building a Dodge I would either go HPCR or P Pump from 96-98.5... and no '53' blocks either!

Not trying to do anything other than gather information.
I'm actually planning on a D-Max in the fall.

I am curious by nature and like to hold intelligent (or in my case semi-intelligent) conversations with fellow pullers. I have been strictly involved in the gasser world for as far back as I can remember. I see the power and potential of the diesels and would like to gain more info (regardless of brand).
