I have an 08 GMC 2500 HD and the wife decided to let me get a programmer for it but I'm not sure which one to get. I'm leaving the DPF on and everything under the hood is still stock. Also concerned about the Allison, if it can handle the additional torque and hp without mods to it. I would like some of your guys opinions as to which one to buy. Thanks

Using either Banks or Edge module system will not alter ECM tuning so help you there if maybe if you have issues that the product may cause. But the system monitors things and if it sees something way out of spec it may be noted. So this may give them a thought a power adder was added even if no ECM changes have been done. Of course changing ECM tune is pretty much a lose of warranty it seems like anymore. The allison is said to handle maybe 80 90 HP over stock but got to watch 4 to 5 and 5 to 4 shifts. Most damage happens on the C3 clutch pack. If you add power there is gonna be faster wear and tear on a stock Allison. even 40HP will shortens if life over a stock setup. Banks seems to be the better one of the two module systems. I have been running about 70 to 125hp over stock for a year. I defiantly have some glazed clutch packs. Will be getting a rebuild done soon.

that's almost true.....if you use the regular edge w/ attitude tis true...however, if you go with the edge evolution it will indeed leave a trace on your ecm as it is a tuner not a programmer.....I have run the banks 6 gun with pda....hyper tech max energy, and now the edge evolution. I liked the max energy....it was a good tune and had some ass to it....the banks was not to shabby either...put 396 hp to the rear wheels on max setting at the dyno....but unless you bite the bullet and buy brand new directly from banks their customer service sucks ass.....the edge thus far is great...only run it on level 2 so far and it really has some ass to it....plus edge's customer service is great...I bought mine used and it didn't come with a rubber gasket I needed...called up edge, told them I bought it used and what I neede, and they sent it to me free. Plus with the edge if you buy the hot unlock for 100 bucks you can force a dpf regen.....very handy if you ever need to have your truck idel for a long period of time....leeme know if you have any questions...mike

Thanks for clearing up which I was referring too. Yes the edge with attitude is the module system. Edge evo is a programmer. I do hear better things of the banks vs the edge.

Banks get's my vote for clean DPF tuning and all around performance on the LMM. We have sold quite a few of these for the "keep the dpf" crowd and have no complaints regarding power or reliability. If you are worried about the trans, keep it in the lower levels, or put a TransGo Jr. kit in the valvebody. They seem to keep up with all the Banks can throw at the 6 speed.

I would say they are both great companies & both sell good products... I really truely love the juice with attitude... But I love to throw alittle smoke now & then. :D I like the fact that you can control your defuel with the juice.. Now, Banks has their new clean tuning features out there.. Their sixgun is a nice unit. They give you a level to custome tune (sl), through a harness box tuner. I do not like that you can monitor 4 things & you can only change 2 of the 4. It would be nice if you could monitor what you want to monitor. The sixgun seams to defuel more to, unless you are running level SL, but then that is a safety feature to protect you. It would be nice if you could tune all the levels like the old days.. Edge products does have excellant service... If you buy from Banks, just buy from Jbarker on here & you will have no problems. He gives you a great price & awesome service...

Those will do the job increasing HP for the most part, but if you want the best, go with a PPE programer....

I am thinking the final Edge CTS Race will give PPE run for the money...

i have the 6 gun for over a year and not one problem - it adds hp, response and yet keeps the truck together. I would recommend Banks

Just becasue it hasn't been said on this thread.............

There are good reasons to run a module if you want to do the most you can to keep your warrany. However, the big power doen't come from a chip, a module, a tuner, or a stack. It comes form a guy who knows how to program these trucks with EFI live.

On my 2002, after I had Mike L do an SCIV to the tranny, I ran the Edge hot juice with attitude. It was something like a 180-200 HP module. I then ran John Kennedy's 500 RWHP race tune. Kennedy's tune made WAY more power, was more drivable, and got better mileage.
