Well i hope im positng in the right spot after the shake up on our diesel place. Any ways after fighting to get my stock exhaust off last night i started to put my new 5in in. well i have the entire exhaust on the truck but it is hiting a few spots on my truck that being the trans member and the underside of the box. Has any one had these problems installing there exhaust. any help would be great.

Had the same problems with my 4" Summit exhaust. It seems (in my case at least) that the system is so generic that it takes some tweaking to get it to fit right. I didn't have any problems with the hangers being in the wrong spot or anything like that just had to adjust the "angle of the dangle" so to speak till it all lined up correctly.

The only real useful advise I can offer is to loose the directions and just fit it manually. I remember the directions indicated to use a certain pipe for my truck which actually was meant for the long bed ( I have a SB) and the pipe indicated for the SB was too short! I had to wind up manually fitting the pipe, eyeballing the exit location and cutting the pipe for the LB to fit where I wanted the pipe to exit.

You know that's what happens when the directions are written in Chinese, translated to Spanish, then adjusted to English. ):h

Mine went on o.k, just push and pull a little here a little there you know monkey with it and it will fit. After I got mine on fully I welded the seams together to keep the pieces from moving. Maybe I should clarify I put about a 3/4 weld on the inside so nobody will see. I did this for vibration purposes,I also tacked on the 6" tip so it will remain mine.

well thats about what i have found it all lines up ok but its as if the pipe is bent to much over the wheel well and it is causing the rest of the pipe to hit parts of the truck.

That is exactly what mine did, and I tweaked and prodded with the pipe setup as it was laid out in the directions to no avail. It's been a few months since my install so this may not be entirely correct but I recall the exhaust goes over one of the cross braces under the truck (I think it's the torsen bar mount) and with the supplied directions I could not prevent this pipe from contacting the truck body or the cross brace when I mounted the pipe that went over the rear axle. My solution was to scrap the directions and the 1st pipe the directions stated to use for my short bed and cut the exhaust pipe intended for the long bed to what I thought was the proper length based on the location of the rear exhaust hanger and where I wanted the exhaust to exit. I still had to tweak the rear exhaust hanger ever so slightly to get things lined up but that was my fix.

I loose installed mine with giant tie wraps holding it up. It really helped be tweek it in. I think most systems require a little play around to get them right.

I know what pipe you're talking about and I went under that cross member instead of over it. It doesn't touch the box or the cross-member..... it hangs a little low to the ground but so do I. ;)

Well, I was looking at aftermarket exhaust for my truck, but it seems that summit may not be the way to go Huh!

It's hard to beat for the money, it's a little bit of work but a good reason to have a few cold ones.

Hmmm... well I wouldn't say that. IMHO it's a decent system, does help EGT's quite a bit and doesn't cost a lotta $$$. However it does come with it's downside of having to "tweak-to-fit". Now if you're lookin for a "plug-n-play" system I'd suggest MBRP. Higher $$$ however fit & finish is simply amazing IMHO. Having installed one on my father's truck a few weekends ago I can say this as it just simply fit. Everything just lined right up, no struggling (other than getting the old cat pipe off), no tweaking it simply fit.

The only part that hangs low is the pipe dipping under the crossmember and then it goes right back up. I hear ya on the spare tire part. We had it adjusted away from the spare when we installed but now it's actually touching the spare :( , haven't looked at the spare to see if it's hurting it or not.

I have installed pre fit muffler systems ( on other vehicles) for the last time.
I only have a flowmaster muffler on this truck, but someday I am letting the muffler shop install one of these kits. They can bend and weld where necessary.

Is this system 5" all the way from the band clamp back?? By band clamp, i'm talking about the one which is directly behind the pass. side wheel well liner.

It's band clamp, jumps to 4 inch, goes a few feet then jumps upto 5 inch the rest of the way out.

I just ordered a Magnaflow #15926 4" cat back system & muffler. Anyone familiar with this , or have it installed on their trucks?? I have an 05 LLY and run the predator on 65 hp. I have boost and EGT gauges.
