Well going to be testing the following products:

1.) BRP's High Performance Diesel Additive (which I have just finished using)

2.) Power Server's Diesel Fuel Supplement+Cetane Boost (the white bottle)

3.) E-Zoil's Diesel Aid+ (sent to me from one of our brothers here, 4kops)

4.) Stanadyne's Performance Formula

5.) FPPF's Total Power

Will be testing how each product handles water removal with a water test kit (also sent from 4kops). Also, be testing overall power, performance and mpg.

Just something I felt like doing and thanks for the help from 4kops.

Will let you know how it all goes.....later on.

Take Care All !!!!!!!!!1

I use "2.) Power Server's Diesel Fuel Supplement+Cetane Boost (the white bottle)".
Not sure which is the best but it seems to works well (quiter engine). It was recommended on this forum, cost effective and local at Walmart.

Still testing products listed above. So far I have ran the bottle of RBP thru my truck and just started using E-Zoil. Also, I have bench tested 3 of them so far and waiting for the other 2 to come in from www.gmdieseltech.com (http://www.gmdieseltech.com) . The ones that have been bench test are: BRP's High Performance Diesel Additive, Power Server's Diesel Fuel Supplement+Cetane Boost (the white bottle) and E-Zoil's Diesel Aid+. So far quite a eye opener. Will post all my findings with pics when I complete the bench and use of all the products. So stand by.....

Anyone know where common places to get FPPF's Total Power addative is (like does Schucks carry it or what not)? I'm looking for local places, but will buy online if I need to...

Thanks,

I don't know if this what you are looking for, but I use Howes Lube. Quiets the engine down, still haven't had a chance to do the mileage test. (too busy towing to get a good reading.) http://www.howeslube.com/site/

FPPF Total Power and +8 Cetane Booster. Never fill up without adding both. First time I put them in only had to drive about 1/8 mile and you could hear and feel the difference. Purchase from Kennedy Diesel.

I am using the Power Service. I use the grey bottle in the summer, and the white bottle in the winter. Pretty cheap and easy to find at Wally World. Seems to be cheaper at Tractor Supply Company, which is where I buy mine.

Primrose for me.

Got a bottle for me to use in my test? It would be very helpful. Any vendor have a bottle of Primrose?

One of the other DP brothers here, 4kops, sent me a bottle of E-Zoil's Diesel Aid+ additive and a testing kit. I bought the other 4 different bottles.

Thanks!

Schaeffers Soy Shield or Stanadyne.
Some additives make the water condense into droplets for removal with separator, and some suspend the water in the fuel. Some have alcohol and some dont. You really dont want any h2o in the injector pump or the injectors suspended or not. If you run something like stanadyne, and a water separator, you will find more water in the separator due to the way it treats water. This is from Performance Diesel Injector owner, and he sells all above mentioned brands and lets customer decide whats best for himself. He has been in the business for 35 some odd years in the business. He also said Older cummins injector pumps cannot handle any type of water without damaging them and not to use FPPF in them. thats my take on the matter.

Does GM recommend one or the other (or will the ingredients in any of them void a warranty)? I was told by someone that Stanadyne was approved for use by GM...

4kops
05-17-2005, 09:21 PM
Yes Gm and I also believe that Ford will recomend Stanadyne maybe because of the relationship that Stanadyne has had with both OE's. Stanadyne was the only fuel injection equipment manufacture to sell a additive until recently. The most important factor is the lubricity factor and the water. Your injection pump and injectors solely relys on the fuel for lubricty. For the ones that are in the cold temps in the winter months you really want to get rid of the water. Water freezes at a much warmer temp than a blended fuel will gel at.

I used Howes for quite a while because they sell it in the truck stop that I usually fuel at. Someone scared me into switching to Stanadyne, however. I would swear that I can notice a difference in the way that the engine runs with Howes in the fuel, it seems to run quieter and not lag as much. Nothing noticeable with Stanadyne. I might try switching back to Howes, I'll take the chance on having trouble with the dealer if there is ever a problem I guess.
