Was going to put the trans gauge in last night so I went to the locale sears hardware at around 6pm. They had clerks outside telling people they where closed. Lost power and when power came on the computers didn't. No one knows how to do a hand receipt. So I wasn't able to get the right T socket. The big boxes only had up to a T40.
Does anyone know what size I need for 4L80E drain plug. I looked in the Manuel and they don't mention it. They just tell you to drain it. I would hate to have to go in and out until I picked the right one.

69camarox thanks for the reply. I figure that out last night. As I didn't have anything above T40 I went out and got T50, T55, T60.
As to my newest  . I went to remove the plug last night and the last Censored Censored Censored put it in so tight that I couldn't move it. Even after trying with the impact wrench. It's still in there. Put some WD40 on it.
My Neighbor has a Garage and said he will put it up on the lift and get at it a little better. Loosen it up and then let me do what I want.
So I wouldn't have the trans gauge install this tow which is a little disappointing.

WHAT????? A drain plug on a tranny? Tranny's don't usually have drain plugs on them....do they? I know mine doesn't have one, and a few of my other buddies trucks don't have them either. Always have to pull the pan and usually end up taking a bath in fluid!

I thought the same thing jmkglloyd. I figured maybe the newer ones have one as mine doesn't either?

Just got back from camping this past Sunday. It was nice having the Pyro Gauge installed. I was surprised on how many times I had to go from a dead stop and then climb a step hill. The truck did great with the 9000 pound TT. Had plenty of power just had to watch the temp. Real easy to decide to accelerate up the hill and put the dial into the red zone. I would back off once it hit 1000 giving myself some cushion room. Was real happy having the Gauges to watch. A great investment for the life of the truck.
As for the tranny plug mine has one other wise it a great looking fake. Now once this Gauge is in I can't wait to see what temps the tranny gets to while towing.

97 and newer 4l80e have a drain plug but as diesel grinch has found out that most of them will not come out:lol: an oil bath is the usual method of changing fluid in one of these:joke:

Not 6.5 related but when i work at a dealer the 99 and newer gas truck had the drain plug for the trans, but they never came out either. I think the factory torq them to around 900,000 ftlb we would cut a slot in the bolt head had use a cold chisel and hammer to get them out (carefully that is) of course you have to buy a new one 3 or 4 bucks i think, but next time you shouldn't have that problem again. BTW mine 94 didn't have one
