For you guys doing your own tunning etc... I have HPTuners for my two cars, and it won't cost me but about $50 for the licence for HPT, but what are your opinions which is best and why. This is my first diesel so it would be a learning experience for sure, but I have a few tunes already written that would give me some valuable infomation to start with. Just trying to deciede what to do with my truck as far as the tune etc... Any imput would be appreciated guys thanks ahead of time.

Either will do the job. Just EFILive is more popular in the Duramax platform vs HPTuners in the gas platform. Seems EFILive gets new OS updates mapped out pretty quick compared to 3-6 default handheld box tuners. Never used HPTuners but seen it used but on a gas engine. Looked ok. Just what ever you get use too. Does HPTuners offer the ability to control things like bidirectional controls like control RPM from the software. Turn injectors on and off. Turn lights and other misc items on and off. from the HPTuners interface. I say there are HPTuners out there for diesel but not sure. I am guessing some write under EFILive, upload to ECM, and then use HPtuners to download off ECM.

Well just briefly looked at it today, but I too have been using it to tune my two camaros so not so sure about the diesel aspect of there controls, but there were quite a few tables and tunes already available on HPtuners site simular to what they have here etc...
