He came down today and brought his laptop computer and a spare 5521. I had the old pump pulled and he and I got the spare on and did the optic bump and set the timing and now I have my truck back to life!!!!! A BIG TEXAS THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I need to figure out a cheap way of getting more boost!! Again, thanks Quantam!!!!

I'll have to Second that comment about Quantum - I drove down to his place from Austin a couple of months ago & he used his laptop, plus a handful of Radio Shack resistors to get my truck to stop de-fueling (the SES light) when the boost got above 11 psi. I didn't know how to do this, but using his laptop he was able to accomplish the job fairly quickly.

What a great guy !!!

Wow! Thanks guys.
I have a homemade spring pic, David.

As previously mentioned, boost controllers require a resisted MAP(boost fooler), or chip with higher boost levels programmed in.

***On a side note, as I scanned David's truck and looked at IAT's and PSIG from the MAP to determine what boost he was seeing, his IAT's maxed at ~200*F at the stock 7-8 psi, WOT.***

200°F!!! Whooaahhooo . . . is that about right for the ambient conditions, or does he have an IAT sensor, boost sensor or something not lining up right?

Seems awful toasty.

Gotta love DSL on the 'puter, it goes faster than I think.

Must echo that Thanks QM, your valued input, experience, experimentalism, all come in a nice neat internet friendly package. Thanks for your contribution to this and the other sites too.

Seems awful toasty. It was ~90*F outside and it if had been lower I would have thought something was wrong. He could use more boost to clear up the black in his exhaust.
