I am planning on buying another s-10 soon, my 1995 has over 260,000 miles on it now and the only real problem I ever had with it was I had to put 3 new head gaskets on it, just wondering if there was a certain year where they fixed this problem so I wont have to deal with it with a newer year. thanks

What motor was in yours????? 4.3??? Or a 4 banger???? Either way, the head gaskets made today are much better than just a few years ago and they will keep getting better, Just buy the best ones available, don't skimp and expect it to last, get the good ones and don't look back....:D

On my 94 i went thru two rebuilt motor. I have 2.2 if you overheat this motor the heads crack and that is end of the motor. so don't overheat.
I have not heard any bad thing about 2000 up trucks.
It is good time to buy now. There are so many good trucks out there.

I got a 95 with 150K and 4.3 and a 92 with 2.5 Iron Duke and not 1 prob. 95 is turned up and with 5 speed hurst. Beat the shit outta both and take it like champs. Intake gaskets were common on 96+.

2.2 were junk IMO. Id take a 2.5 anyday over that or a 2.8.

I have a 2.2 in my 95, and other than the head gaskets its been a good truck. I had a 2.5 a while ago and never had any problems with it, but them arent too easy to find in good shape and not too high of miles anymore. GM shouldve never stopped making the S-10 IMO, but there is a lot of things they've done that I havent agreed with.

Good friend of mine has an 86 camaro with a 2.8 it had 300,000 miles on it and ran strong. He use to beat the crap out of that car. He was afraid it goin to pop so he traded it of on a s-10 with a 2.2. That thing was piece of crap. (even before we almost melted a hole in the pistons from goin lean with nitrous) Good thing he traded it of on a 2000 SS!

well I bought one, 96 reg cab, 2.2l 5 speed, 180k miles, not one spot of rust and only a few small dents. paid $1200 for it. the owner said he has owned it since 80k miles and never had head gasket problems, so I guess we'll see. I hope it treats me as good as my 95 has.
