I got a Racor 445 filter for my truck today. When I go to install it, should I use hoses or should I use a flare kit and make up hard pipe connections? It seems to me that when you mount the filter on the frame before the lift pump that there wouldn't be much vibration and movement to preclude using just the fuel lines.
Since this thing has 4 connections, do I block off 2 of the passages with plugs?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

I used hose and clamps it's LP and won't blow off, at a minimum use (2) 1 in and 1 out or you could set up for vac switch like I did on mine see FAQs for some pics of how mine went in. I used a piece of angle iron married to the frame to get some more height for the filter to clear better

Yes - you plug off all but one in port and one out port. I installed my plugs with a small amount of Permatex #2 (the brown stuff) instead of white teflon wrap. I've got over 50 k miles on the filter setup and was worth it - less trouble with operation and junk in the main filter. As far as tubing - go with fuel hose. It works well. I just cut off the tubing and slipped the fuel hose over it, I believe it was 3/8" id. I also installed a shut off valve inline before the filter with brass barbs in it to connect the fuel lines to.

Thanks guys!
Tim, :shootself I actually looked at the FAQ and totally missed the filtering FAQ.
In that thread I found the Racor PDF. It is a huge help and I am going to do the dp switch as well. Reminds me of the fuel oil prefilters! (lost more than one fingernail on those thing's lids)
