Let us know what you think when you get it installed.

Pre sale I had some questions which were answered by Chris of Costar very quickly via email (same day). Within 2 days I had a shipping confirmation and tracking info. So far the ordering process has been very satisfactory.
I'll post more when I get the unit.

I've not heard of Bluestar. Do you have a link?

the unit arrived yesterday via USPS. Just two working days after ordering. Very fast, I am impressed.
Unfortunately it's raining here today and I probably won't be able to install it.
I'll keep you posted ..........

I'll keep you posted ..........Oh comon - you're not going to melt! Plus - all the work is inside the truck - get in the passenger side and close the door - open the glove box and get to it! :grd: :)

I thought that the Onstar module is below the radio and to get to it I have to remove the two lower dash panels. Which means my ass would be hanging out in the ran.
All kidding aside, are you saying that the Onstar is behind the glove box? I thought the module behind the glove box is the XM module. Might be nice to know where it really is befor I start tearing thing apart.
Thanks in advance for any info on the onstar location.

I forgot you have a NBS - Onstar is behind the glove box in the GMT800s I believe - don't know where they are in the NBS - hope you have dry weather today or good rain pants to keep your bottom half dry while it's hanging out in the rain! :)

Seriously, I'm anxious to hear how well it works for you - if it works well I'll likely do the same - my onstar is out of date with the all digital system change so I won't be losing anything to go this route on my truck.

in the glove box- or behind it to be more precise.

Alright Pinzgauer - you had sun and no rain today - did you get the installation done?

Just had to remove the driver side lower dash panel and the center panel below the radio. The Onstar module is right below the radio in sort of a rubber cradle. No screws just rubber clips. Unplugging two antennas and two plugs is all it took.

The Bluestar module is very easy to plug into the Motorola part and the there are just the two Onstar plugs that now go into the Bluestar board. I used Double sided tape (included) to hold it in place. All in all it took maybe half an hour.

After installation I paired my iPhone without a hitch and was ready to make my first call. At first I had lots of hiss in the speakers but I adjusted the volume level on the motorola all the way down which eliminated the hiss.

People tell me that they could never tell that I was on a handsfree setup. To me it feels and sounds exactly like the Onstar phone. When I get a call I can see the caller ID on my phone and then just push the mirror button to answer. Making a call is completely transparent. In addition I am gettin the signal strength of the Onstar system.

So it seems like a great setup for someone like me who doesn't want the Onstar any longer.

Thanks for the post - do the steering wheel controls work to answer the call or make a call?

I don't have those controls on my truck but it is my understanding that they do work.
One thing I want to correct after I thought about it. I don't believe the Bluestar uses the Onstar antenna .... how could it when I disconnected it.
