I was runnin a Ford 8960 (i think) with a loader on it. While i was usein it to load corn onto my tractor trailer, one of the hydrolic hoses that run the bucket blew and a big ball of fire came up all around the cab of the tractor. The fire went right out but scared the S*** out of me.

Here is what happen. This tractor has to use the rear remotes to work the loader. So the hoses run from the back of the tractor down the right side and up towards the loader. The hose that blew had worn right down to the metall cable part of the hose. The metal part hit both the negative and postive post on the battery at the same time and blew a hole in the hose and sent that high pressure fluid into a ball of flames.

This is a new one on me. I always keep the covers on my batterys in my own tractors. This just taught me a lesson, if it is not yours walk around it first and look for stupid things like this. It could have very easy been avoided if i would have took the time to make a pre trip like i do on the tractor trailer.

I learned the same working for someone running his tractors. After a few close calls I would walk in a circle around the tractor before I got on just to looks for any problems. Flat tires, laking oil, broken parts. Some idiot could have used it and tore something up and didnt know it and parked it. They you use it and it flys apart and its your fault. I keep my stuff in tip top shape, most people dont.
