I know this is something that has been discussed many times. I did a search under Pyrometer install and did not find the info that I was looking for. I read some while back about the proper placement for the Pyro, post turbo. Unable to find it again. If someone can direct me to the post that gives this info, I would appreciate it. I will be installing mine this weekend. I purchased from ssdiesel. Does someone know if there is specific directions for this install in the kit? It makes me a little neurvous drilling and taping into something when I am not exactly sure where it should go. Thanks for any help.

Should see more info under EGT gages, as most folks don't know what a pyrometer is, until they ask about the gage install.......

Another good thread is tilted "Sage Advice" you have to go 2 or 3 pages deep though

What brand of gauge?
Does it have a drill and tap or a drill and clamp probe?

If you are going to take the time to install it, do it pre-turbo. Much more accurate. .02

I did VDO gauges, the Vision series. They are backlit and match the oem gauge colors. I have over 100 k miles on my trans, exhaust and boost gauges from VDO.
VDO kit came with thermocouple. Welded the bung 2" below crossover pipe connection on drivers side. Adjusted tip of thermocouple tip to be exactly in the middle of the pipe. Get it all set up and adjusted before taking it to a welder if you don't weld yourself. I weld, but left this to a pro with heliarc knowledge. Looks like factory install. Some use the clamp on senders but looks too micky mouse to me. 550F is the temp crusing at 60-65mph.
