all the lights work (hazard, park, ect)in the back so i know it is not the bulbs but when i push the brake nothing I check the fuses and everything is good.

Maybe you should check your tail light fluid? :D

Just Kidding

But on a more serious note, I have no idea why this is happening to you sorry.

Check your Bake Light switch located on your brake pedal, its about 3" by 3" and has an arm that moves with your brake pedal to trigger your brake light, slides right out, no screws easy to replace, good luck!

Does your third light on the cab work? Do you have a trailer brake controller? Had the same problem a while back & the wires where the brake controller had been spliced into the brake light wires had come apart.
A good test that helped me narrow down the problem was to pull the brake relay in the fuse block under the hood & jump it with a paperclip. If the brake lights come on then you know everything from the fuse block to the brake lights is ok & it must be somewhere between the brake pedal & the fuse block. If they don't then you need to get under the truck & start testing wires.

How does it come off?

Mine slid out, there was a release tap similar to pulling a wire harness, you might be able to just test it in there by pulling the harness to it and putting a tester to it while depressing the brake pedal

You might have a different problem than I had but I was driving around for who knows how long without tail lights in my 95 suburban. My burb had the trailer plug that struck out just behind the center of the rear bumper. I followed those leads up under the rear bumper to a tee plug and took it apart. It was all corrorided up. Seems all the salt that we have here did her in. I just took the tee out for now and plugged the other two in and I had tail lights. Just something to check.

try the T connector in the back of the truck for your trailer lights that controls the running lights and all i bet thats bad or a corroded wire

Do you have turn signals?

If not it is probably the boards inside the light housing, common problem and can be fixed easily.

i have both turn signals and when i turn on my head lights they work I also have the hazerds flashing that is why I think it is the switch on the brake

Good news! That switch can cause a lot of probs since it controls about 5 different things...

Where'd you get a switch for $8? Usually they're $14 and change.

FWIW, I can't stand changing those switches (or taking them loose to do a hydroboost change) - removing that blasted retainer clip on the pushrod pin is rather unpleasant...

I'm having the same problem with my brake lights. Everything works except for the brake lights and the hazard lights. Any thoughts on what it good be?
The fuse is good.
