: Slightly used 2009 Duramax 2500 LTZ Price
smartcardengr 07-14-2009, 01:52 PM 2009 Silverado 2500 LTZ Crew Cab is a GM Factory demo very well equipped with Navigation, BOSE, XM, OnStar, power heated leather seats with memory, heated washer fluid system, steering wheel controls, driver info center, parking sensors, HD tow package, fog lamps, 17in. wheel option with 265 tires, GM chrome step boards, Allison 6-speed and 6.6 liter Duramax Diesel.
Has about 3000 miles on it...was a GM demo truck
What do you guys think a decent deal is on this rig?
Tanc Crusher 07-14-2009, 02:21 PM I am guessing it sticker for about $54,000. So I say $42,000 to $44,000.
Brian
Forever 07-15-2009, 02:55 AM Since it is a demo, they dont have to drop the price much. As long as it isn't licensed, it doesn't have to be classified as used. So around $46 would be my guess
hdd-max 07-15-2009, 09:27 AM You should be able to buy a new one for ~10k off MSRP.
funtoy 07-15-2009, 05:23 PM Atleast $15,000.00 off. Don't forget the economy is SAD.
Horse-Power 07-17-2009, 02:09 PM Being a demo it probably means that it was really beat up, Ive seen people drive demos like race cars, even seen one wreck a new gt mustang....

So dealers are supposed to lose money because the economy is bad...it's bad because of people like you a**hole.

WOW!
Economy is bad for a myriad of reasons and GM is in the toilet because of, well, GM. Decades of poor management and bad decisions have led to their current state.
I agree that dealers can't give cars away, but getting a truck moved is more important than how "red" the books are on that individual sale at this point for many dealerships (that is those that are still lucky enough to be in business due to GM's piss poor business practices).
There's nothing wrong with trying to get the best deal you can, all the dealer has to say is NO, his/her call. I really don't give two cents if a low ball offer offends their sensitivities. Just means that truck will probably sit there until another low ball offer comes along or until OBAMA saves the f'ing world like he appears to be trying and failing.

Yep. Thanks for saying what I was thinking. So what if he gets 15k off, he did his research and didn't play games with the sales people. GM and other industries have been screwing people for years, now its come back to bite them in the posterior region.

So, lets see...you guys both work for free I suppose. Put lots of hard work in everyday for not a cents worth of pay...hmmm....sounds like a great deal to me. As for screwing people...that's a pretty harsh phrase. Profit is NOT a dirty word, and it's necessary to make a profit on every deal in order to stay in business. $15k off on a new heavy duty puts us WAY in the red. GM has made some really bad decisions, but that has no bearing on what a dealer has to do to survive. Once they have sold the vehicle to us, they dont care what we sell it for. If someone has done their research, and manages to make a great deal, then great...but if someone wants to pay sticker price...that's not screwing someone...it's called profit and making hay while the sun is shining.

Obviously dealing with a bitter GM dealer, or someone with close ties to one. Hey, make $$ however you deem necessary, it's a free country (for the the time being). I don't work for free, and don't expect anyone else to either. Like I said before, if you don't want to accept an offer, don't; end of story. As for the poor poor dealers not making any money, try that line of BS on someone else.
Holdback, volume discounts, dealer incentives from manufacturer that joe public is not even aware of, etc etc. $15k off a new HD DMax MSRP seems a bit ridiculous to me, but it wasn't too long ago that $12-$13k off MSRP was going all day long with GM employee pricing ontop of other incentives available to public.
By the way, dealerships don't make a profit on every car they sell, that too is a "cost" of doing business. You win some, lose some etc. As for idiots that pay MSRP on a new vehicle, take them to the bank for all I care, that is their ignorance and your benefit. The ridiculous markup you make off them more than makes up for the "screaming deal" that a truly studied up customer gets by with from time to time.
I've wasted enough time on this, you are obviously jaded about the whole GM situation and good luck with your future business practices.

I'm glad you know so much a business that you've never been in...funny how everyone whos never been in the car business is an all knowing expert on a subject they really know nothing about. It would be like me acting like I am an expert in the RV business...I've bought several, but have no idea on how that business works...dont really care...if they have something I like and want then I buy it and dont really care what they made off me. If I thought it was a good deal...then so be it. But for those of you that think dealers are money trees...you're dead wrong. Just come join the business since you know so much about it!

You call someone as a$$hole for offering up their opinion? Look at yourself.
Back in October a dealer was selling loaded Super Dutys for 17k off BEFORE negotiation. Shows just how much profit they make when selling at MSRP. You walk into a Best Buy and you pay sticker for a plasma. Car dealership system is set up to rob old grannies. Why should anyone be berated for getting as bigger discount as they can get? Dealer doesn't have to sell them the vehicle.

Exactly, a dealer deems a deal is bad, they say nope and move to the next guy, its business.

Think I'll waste a little bit more of my time.
If you make a profit on every deal that goes thru your doors (as you stated is "NECESSARY" to stay in business) they why the heck are you complaining about anything? If that was the case you'd be rolling in dough. Anyone that knows jack about any sort of business knows that you don't profit on every deal, that is the risk of being in business, regardless of what you build, sell, etc.
You're arrogance is laughable. How do you have any idea what my business experience or that of my family is. Never claimed to know everything about it, but know enough to call you on your arrogant, running your mouth BS.
If you run your business the way you conduct yourself here, no wonder you are in a foul mood.

Ok, I'm going to eat crow here. I think alot of what youre saying here is true, and maybe I came across as an a**hole, but after being in the car business for 17 years you tend to become a little jaded towards customers, much the same way customers become jaded towards us. Listen, we dont make NEAR the money you all think we make...used to make ALOT of money, but when people start throwing out ridiculous offers and insinuate that there is tons of mark up in these cars nowadays, when in reality there isnt, it tends to make you a little upset. It still humors me on how everyone is the self professed expert in our business. I'm all about giving good deals, even if its a super skinny deal, and I love the lay downs (albeit they are far and few between). I think you should put yourself in my shoes though before you proclaim we just lay people away. I appreciate your opinion and respect it as well!:)

No problem, times are tough all over and it's okay to vent occasionally, I too do it from time to time. Your response above sheds some light on your true character, so thanks for that and good luck in what is sure to be a very challenging road ahead for you and your dealership.
Think I've seen your posts in other threads that mentioned you travel to Lake City area frequently. Go spend some more time up there, it is good for the soul. I've spent at least one week in the S Fork, Creede, Lake City area every summer for the past 25 yrs or so, it is the best part of Colorado.
Good luck

Ironically we just got back from Lake City on Saturday! Absolutely love it up there! I grew up in Durango and loved to travel the passes as a kid. We went on one incredible ATV ride while up there. Covered 60 miles over three big passes. Went from Castle Lakes Campground and up over wager gulch past the old Carson townsite and then dropped down into the Rio Grande drainage, then on to and up over Stoney pass and down into the Animas headwaters, then on to Animas Forks and up and over Cinamon Pass and then down past american basin and back to camp! Awsome ride! I appologize for being such a jerk...usually not the way I am! Maybe we'll run into to each other up in Gods country! Take care and thanks for the encouragement!

"up over wager gulch past the old Carson townsite and then dropped down into the Rio Grande drainage, then on to and up over Stoney pass......"
Not familiar with that trail, but looked it up online and got the basic idea of the route. Based on your travel of the trail, is it strictly an ATV trail or passable by 4x4 vehicle with a small track width?
Where does it spit you out on the stony pass road, are you above the RG reservoir or below it? The stony pass to Animas back into L.C. over Cinnamon or Engineer is a great trip. The rig I use in that region is in my garage, is there room on the trail you took for it in your opinion?
You've probably done it, but the Beartown/Kite Lake Spur off of the Stony Pass road on the east side of the pass is a nice side trip. Took the Pinz from S fork to Kite Lake, back down and over Stony, back into L.C. over Cinnamon and back to S Fork on 149. It was a LONG day but awesome scenery. The scenery is amazing at Kite Lake where the spur deadends. We had to stop about 1/4 mile from lake in mid july last year due to deep snow across road at top.
Sorry to original poster for officially hijacking this thread to a discussion of SW Colo.

It spits you out above the RG res. You head west, then, and cross over pole creek and then onto Stoney pass. I havent ever done the Beartown/Kite Lake, but my dad has and said it's really pretty up there. THe route we took from the top of wager gulch down to the RG res road is strictly ATV/motorcycle. There are some VERY tight spots in the forrested areas that you could never make in a jeep or even a Mule or the like...I would be leary even in a sport side by side on that road because of the steepness and off camber nature of the trail...very technical riding, but very beautiful scenery!

Thanks for info, have to wait to try that one until I get an atv.
