: Went to look at an 05 and need help
dieselfumes57 05-09-2005, 11:30 PM Ole max is 2 now, so i went to a few local dealers to find something a little differant. This is what i found:They follow you around the parking lot in a golf cart turn by turn until you get out. Every stealer i went to had the same thing, some jerk with sunglasses on following me around a parking lot turn by turn and even sometime upwards up 10 minutes waiting on me to get out. It might be ok to some but i found it to be really rude. Rude as hell! But anyway, the sticker on the truck i found was 49500 does anybody know what a good price would be?
I guess i'm a little out of the loop on this stuff after a few years so any help would be appreciated.
DMax in Alaska 05-10-2005, 12:02 AM use a site like www.edmunds.com (http://www.edmunds.com/) to get MSRP, invoice, and a bid price. Some members on this site also offer some sort of an employee discount number that may get the price lower. Anyway, having MSRP and Invoice are a big help before you talk to the salesman. I found that www.carsdirect.com (http://www.carsdirect.com/) seems able to sell for a few hundred over invoice and with no haggle.
Well if the Cars Direct Website is close, I did good. I just got my '05 Chevy 3500 Silverado LT LWB CrewCab 4x4 SRW Duramax/Allison, loaded minus Sunroof and 2nd Alternator for $44700 (includes the $1k rebate for the D/A). I did not take the GMAC rebate. My bank gave a better rate that saves me more than GMAC was giving. The MSRP was $50700. I absolutely love the truck. :ro)
Michael156 05-10-2005, 12:15 PM I am also looking for a new truck and have had many diff quotes from dealers in the area. The msrp of my truck was 49,212 and a local deal gave me a price of 42,398 - he included the rebates which I said were mine to use. I then got a quote from someone I know who has a dealership in the mid-west just to see. He gave me the same price (couple hundred more) but the rebates were mine to use - knocking the total price of the truck to 39,900.
Just thought I would share my experience. Holding off because I may go to a large motorhome set-up. Dually cannot pull very large trailers. Good luck with your search.
Ringer68 05-10-2005, 04:39 PM I always us to cruise the lots on Sunday while the salesmen where in church.

howard_m18 05-10-2005, 11:27 PM F.Y.I. the G.M. Supplier Discount program can be found in this topic section. Using the directions, you can "Order" a truck & see both MSRP & G.M.S.D. price. It is hassel free & it is listed on a "TRUE INVOICE" TO get a G.M.S.D.P. You need to contact one of us. Be sure that the dealer will accept the G.M.S.D.Price # as we only get 2 per month to pass out! If you want a # you can send me a e-mail to = howard_m18 at yahoo.com. I try to keep them together, that is why I want ya to send the info. to me INSTEAD OF A P.M. Howard
Slickduster 05-10-2005, 11:41 PM Standard rule of thumb coming frm a friend who owns a dealership
MSRP example..... 45,000 X 18percent = 8,100
45,000 - 8100 = 36,900
36,000 Equals Dealer COST,,,,,, not invoice.
GM employer discount a standard 2 percent above this price.
GM Supplier discount is usually 4 percent above this price.
You should be able to get a truck with the MSRP of 49,000 for 41,787.
They'll give you a lot of **** to get it at this price but it is a Do able thing. Just stick to your plan.
I got a 05 MSRP @ 42500 for 36,100 which is inbetween employee and Supplier cost
Keep me posted to your turn out
Later
kboring 05-11-2005, 04:16 PM I just picked up an 05 CC DRW 2wd loaded LT for 36,500 Brand new, MSRP was around 46, so just shop around. All I dont have is the sunroof...
homepukes 05-13-2005, 04:52 PM I went and drove a Dmax here in Atlanta about a week ago. Their circuit included an around the block drive with four stop lights. I think I got up to 40mph once. Being new to diesels I asked the salesman where the light was that I am supposed to wait to go off before I start. He just looked at me puzzled. I asked about the six speed for next year and he said he didn't know anything about it. He told me I could drive around the block again after my first pass and I said no and drove it back into the parking lot and left. Any of you guys have a preference of dealers here in Atlanta? Just don't say Tom Jumper, I had a bad experience there and will not go back.
sideswiper 05-16-2005, 09:30 AM my truck suspension has been modified to handle the weight.truck is never over 11000 lbs.trailer has three braked axles and is rated for 26000.dot does not seem to have a problem with it,as i have been inspected several times
