When I bought my truck new I had the dealer install cab lights (the NBS LED's) before taking delivery. Recently the center section of the lights has quit working and I have a couple of questions.

How the heck do you get them off the roof to check things? I removed all 3 screws and they wouldn't budge.

Is it safe to assume that the entire center piece will need to be replaced? I was under the impression that LED's far outlasted regular bulbs
.
I traced the wiring as much as I could and found that when they were installed, the positive wire was connected to the dash light dimmer switch (brown/white wire) so the cab lights dim with the dash lights. Could this possibly be the right way to hook them up. Sure doesn't seem right to me.

And one last question. Any chance that this would be covered under warranty? I'm kinda doubtful since things like light bulbs wouldn't be covered.

The lights should not be hooked up to the dimmer wire. There should be a designated spot for them on the passenger side junction box. That is where I tapped for mine.

One of my lights went out too. Due to a tree falling on my truck. I took it to the body shop and come to find out something like tar is holding them on. All I can say is pull and push on the light and it will come off someday. good luck.

I would take your truck back to the dealer that installed them and tell them to make it right. Meaning it should be wired up just like a truck that came from the factory with cab lights. Hooking a wire to the dimmer side of the dash lights is just dumb. Who ever done it should have known better.

You probably can't get the lights off cause the used some type of sealant to seal the light to the roof to prevent any water leaks.

they would have to go under the hood to get a postive trigger wire for the parking lights which is the way they are supposed to be hooked up.

What he said, my last 2 trucks have had factory cab lights and the fuse for them is under the hood.

The fuse is under the hood but the proper location to hook them up is on the passenger side exactly identical to the fuse box inside the cab only on the opposite side. I can get you a picture of mine if you want but iirc its labeled cab lights.
