Need good advice from someone out there with experience towing LQ horse trailers. I have 2004 stardard shift Duramax short bed truck. Looking to pull 26 foot 2HRs trailer with 8" shortwall. TRailer weighs about 7300 pounds empty based on manufacture of trailer. I know what the owners manuel says, but I'm looking for someone whose been there done that. Am I trying to pull to much weight for suspension of truck?
Thanks Everett

Missing a little info,Trailer weighs 7000lbs empty but what does it way full? "
By the book" you can pull 22,500 lbs total truck and trailer weight so roughly speaking you can put 7,000 lbs of crap in that trailer. Truck weighs 7K lbs plus 7k lbs of trailer plus 7k lbs of crap is 21K lbs and under 22,500 right?
Now loading it like that will make your truck over GVWR which I think is 9200 lbs for that. Now that GVWR is based on what I don't know because these trucks have the same axle as a 3500 and it will be tough to go over the axle ratings.
All in all if your going to be near 22,000 lbs it is best done with a one ton or dually truck! If this is a once and done affair then your probably fine but might want to re-think your setup if your going to be pulling near the max all of the time.

I think that the brakes are taken into consideration for the GVWR, I also believe that the 1 ton and duelies have more swept area with the brakes.....I may be wrong though. Have a good day.
