.........First post......I found and purchased a '03 8.1 2Wdr. with 46k miles on the clock . The daughter of the owner sold me the truck , as he is in a nursing home . So , I drove the truck and all seems well mechanically , but I'm thinking that at 46k miles I need to service the Ally......either drop the pan , change internal filter and new screw on filter <or> drain the fluid , replace with transynd(7.4 qts) and new spin on filter .
..........I bought this truck to pull my 5th. wheel , But it maybe a couple of years before it will have to do any real towing . So , this truck will sit mostly as I use a 2008 Ranger for a commuter and very few miles will be put on the dually . Comments , suggestions ? , thanks ck fan:)

If you don't have any idea of the maintenance schedule its always a good rule of thumb to replace all fluids and filters so you can start your maintenance schedule from scratch. Its a great low miles find!

I would say that you probably don't need to drop the pan and change the internal filter. I would change the fluid, spin on and call that good. Whether you decide to do a flush or double drain is up to you.

Transynd or any other of the TES-295 fluids including clones are compatible with the Dex III that came in it from the OEM.

i would just drain the fluid and do a new spin on filter.. no need to change the internal filter yet
