I just bought a 01 GMC 2500HD CC 4X4 SWB D/A, with 80,000 miles. On my drive home, around 72-MPH, I can hear a very slight winning noise. What's weird about it is it comes and goes. It only does it at a light throttle, and it seems to go away if I hit a bump. It will then eventually come back. I'm wondering if it could be the center support bearing. What are your thoughts? I do have the extended bumper to bumper warranty until 100,000 miles, so I need to get it fixed soon.
Thanks, Steve

I also have noticed this with my new truck! Any insight from anyone who has dealt with this issue in the past?

No change. It'll go away by itself, I can let off of the throttle, or hit a bump and it'll go away. Yea I tried the ole-swerving trick thinking that it could be a wheel bearing.

I don't know if this would be the same with the HD, but my 2000 1500 chevy did that (sounded almost like a city bus). Turned out my rear diff was almost out of fluid and the the whole thing finally made a bang one day. Expensive way to find out about maintenance.
Check the U-joints, had a similar noise at that speed, there also was a very slight grinding sound when comming to a stop. If its not the u-joints check the rear suspension and make sure it has not sagged. Incorrect offsetting drive line angles through the u-joints can cause a drive line drone or vibration.

Good point, I'm also noiced a "clonk" when I take off.

Lost, I know this is off topic but do you mind telling me what you paid for the truck? I'm in the market and trying to get a feel for prices.

ok ive had a few problems with my truck i rasied the torison bars(dont do it) , Bad wheel bearing make a click sound like you got rocks in the tires its a steady click slower when u go slower and fast... you get the point...
If your increaseing the throttle and then let off and it goes away its your turbo... If its makes a hissing sound, If not it could be your ether front end or Rear End.
