search for crankin up or turning up the ip

also search for putting on the 6.5 turbo stock setup onto a 6.2

a 6.2 blowing smoke is bad. you want to burn all of the fuel you've got. black smoke is just unburnt diesel going out your tailpipe which while it looks cool it a total waste. the only trucks that should blow smoke are the ones that have to get the boost well up there to counter the large amounts of fuel being injected. not to mention black smoke means higher EGTs which is also bad. Get things too hot and they'll naturally fail.

Anyone can make a diesel blow smoke. it takes a bit more skill to make it burn clean and efficient while still adding power over stock.

your truck's most likely an N/A or naturally aspirated(non-turbo). you really can't turn up the fuel too much, as you've got no boost to help burnt that extra fuel. I'd start off with getting the truck to breathe out better. On my blazer the stock muffler's were removed and flowmasters(or flowmaster knockoffs) were installed before i bought it. It's got a beautiful sound to it and it can breathe better. Start with that before turning up the wick on the fuel at all.

i do agree with Jodean. find a stock 6.5 turbo setup or a banks turbo setup and work from there if your looking to add power. Just remember the 6.2 is an IDI, an old one at that, and it won't put out the tow the world away power like a cummins, powerstroke, or duramax will.

x2 with jodean and the 6.5 turbo setup, it will get you close to 200 hp, if your really looking for power get an older cummins (89-93) they are slowly going down in price so they are more reasonable, they have about 170 hp but 400-450 ft-lb of torque

i took my dopey sleepy tired 6.2 C code and turned up the ip 1/8th turn and its like throwing cold water on someone sleeping! the engine is awake and roaring now! it will light up the tires in second gear on gravel and in 1st on pavement now. it smokes a little more but it takes me no time to get up to speed so the smoke dont last long. i was pulling a 3200 lb stock trailer the other day tired it in overdrive and the ol 6.2 couldnt keep above 100kmh so i dropped to 3rd then it managed to get up to 105. id like to find a 6.5 turbo or a banks or a ATS turbo but havnt been able to yet but when i do look out!

if I was you, i would just slightly turn up the IP to J code specs 1/8 turn, also i would look into propane injection if you want to use the 6.2 they have them out there, you could also take the intake, turbo, ect. off of a 6.5TD, or consider a complete 6.5TD swap, as for blowing smoke, as iamdave0887 stated, all the smoke is, is unburnt fuel, it doesnt mean more power, just worse mpg and higher EGT's.
Hope I Helped

ya i was looking into propane bully dog offers it for like $700 i think and if u put propane in it you can turn the IP up 1/8th and u wont blow black smoke cause the propane basically helps burns the unburnt and ull probally get alot of power

dont go overkill on these engines you might keep the EGT's and everything in check but remeber the bottom end of these engines isnt all that tough
