Ok so I read through the various posts on most all of the threads including this as well as other forums regarding the potential for a voided warranty for tuning the ECM. Recognizing that I am not as smart as GM or others on here I would like to pose the following: On my 07' classic LBZ I would like to install this Bully Dog GT 40420 for the purpose of monitoring and utilizing the driving coach feature, as well as adjusting for tire size. It is my understanding that I can monitor all day, but if I recalibrate for the tires I will be "flashing" or "reprogramming" the ECM. Which would cause a potential for a voided warranty. That being said is that true with the driving coach and monitor features of this tuner? Also if down the road I have a need for more HP and lost $$$ due to a heavy foot, will any of the HP programs this device uses be detectable via the CVN's? I have seen it discussed that the "inline" tuners ie. BANKS, EDGE Juice etc. do not leave a footprint. Would this also be considered inline because it plugs into the port under the dash? I would just like to get other facts and opinions before I throw this on and void my warranty just for trying to correct for tires and improve driving habits.
-Thanks,

well someone else will give you a better answer maby but i dont think their is such thing as a inline programmer...all programmers like the bully fog GT upload into the computer so they are tracable. The ones the plug into the wiring harness under the hood i would think wouldnt be tracable providing you took it out but i could be wrong. I just noticed you have a lbz so you will be find because its the LMM's that save the data, a lbz you can do what you like as long as you unload your tune from ecm. when you upload a tune such as bullydog gt your talking about it reflashes the ecm wether you change hp setting, tire size, speed limiter, its all the same process. When you unload it it will be all stock again and gm will not know.

I appreciate the input. Especially since somehow this ended up in the wrong generation of duramax posts.?.? Not sure how that happened. At any rate I guess I will wait till the warranty runns out before I flash or program anything. Only have about 30k left before that happens so in about a year I should be real close.
Very Respectfully,

Well I asked Bully Dog Tech's about this to which they sent me the following:

"All of our programmers are 100% untraceable once the vehicle is turned back to stock. We do not rewrite the trucks ECM, we just remap it. So as long as the truck is returned to factory stock before a dealer gets to it, there are no foot prints, traces or anything detectable that a tune was ever in the truck at all."

I would love to assume they are correct, but am still uncertain due to the other info I have seen on this. Anyone know if there is any truth in how they are "remapping" and how it wouldn't be detectable?

I have gathered from what other ppl have said on here that a gm dealer can see when the computer is reflashed on the lmm trucks because the computer saves everything, so i would think that goin back to stock wouldnt clear or erase it all. But someone else will know forsure. I dont own a lmm or i would know forsure.
