Visor-It (http://www.pace-edwards.com/visorsi.asp)

I had to get some Krylon plastic paint to match the headliner. They aren't sturdy enough for a bunch of stuff, but they hold my cell phone, GPS and a bunch of CDs, freeing up the other nooks and cranies.

Looks good but I wonder about sh*t falling out and hitting me in the head:cool:

Test of time? Dunno, installed them today. If you pull down on them too hard, I am sure they will break since they are only anchored by the visor hardware. If by loaded you mean a cell phone, Passport, and some CDs, then yeah I think they'll be fine. If you mean a big CB, then no unless you fab something to hold the aft end (by the cargo net)

Stuff falling out on your head? Well they do have netting to hold stuff in and foam rubber on the inside to keep stuff from sliding around. Will they stand a boosted launch and still keep stuff off your head? Maybe.

I've had a set of those since last summer, & they're holding up really well. I've never had anything fall out yet, & it's really nice having the power points up above to plug in a radar detector & a cell phone charger.

I've been thinking about those for a place to put a CB and my cell phone. Do you feel a little claustorphobic (sp?) with those above your head?

Thats what I was wondering. Do they obscure your view or are they high enough to not matter?

My old '01 had a big overhead consule that could hold a ton on misc stuff. 04.5 same series has a little itty bitty overhead thing with a small cubby hole that is just about worthless.

You never know they are there. Your headliner curves down to meet the windshield, & the visor shelf-its are thin at the front so that they sit level. I don't even think you could mount a CB in them since they are so shallow towards the front. The sun visors might be slightly lower, but not really noticeable. The only thing bad about them is that they force your visors down a little bit when you move them over to your side window.

You don't think a CB will fit in there? boooo, back to the drawing board.

They look low enough to help block the sun. I may pick up a pair since my $49,000 truck doesn't have a tinted wind shield.-:t

What deadfurrow said. They stick down a little, but are only very slightly lower than the standard visors. If you are very tall and can't afford a reduction of an inch or so of viewable area, then don't get these. I am 5'10" and have plenty of room and an unobstructed view. You have to manhandle the visor a little to the side, but it still works. Stuff doesn't rattle around and they are perfect for the cell phone/charger and a radar detector. I think a no-frills CB would fit (one like this (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F008%5F009%5F005%5F003&product%5Fid=21%2D1711)), but I'd have to measure the space availaible to be sure. If someone really wants more pics of them than are on the Pace Edwards web site, and can wait until this weekend, I'll post some.

Here's the long delayed picture. I have my Magellan GPS w/power cord and winshield mount in this one and the radar detector and cell phone cable in the other one.

How much did these cost you and where did you buy them.

Thanks

Sorry for the double post. I was a little quick on the clicker.

What is the "gap" between the lower edge of the unit & the bottom of the headliner? When looking at this I thought that I could mount a boost , EGT guage set and the small TRAX II monitor for the transfer flow tank in there. Use the power point access hole to mount the three position switch for an Edge EZ. The passenger side could be used for its intended purpose---all the "necessities" for the War Department.

Dang, they are kinda expensive. They look nice though. Why did you have to paint yours? Did the color not match very well? How do they mount? on one side or both sides?

Do you mean how high is the opening? I'll check tonight.

I bought the gray ones, which would have matched my '02, and this truck has the "tan"-ish headliner and visors. I didn't think the tan ones would match, so I opted for the gray and painting. In retrospect, the tan ones would have been fine, and cheaper.

They attach using the existing visor and visor clip mounting holes.

Yeah, they are a little expensive, but the extra power receptacles and reduced clutter when in road warrior mode made me loosen the grip on my wallet.

Sorry 'bout the confusion: I did mean how high is the opening? Thanks for clearing this up for me.

So if I have the med gray interior, which do I need to order? I still have the lighter colored headliner (I think...).

When mounting do you just remove the visor, slip this on and remount the visor in the stock holes? Or do you remount the visor to the shelf?

Duckhunter:

I think you need the tan ones if your headliner isn't gray. A can of plastic paint is about $5 if you need a better match.

You have to remove the visor and clip. The shelves have holes in them that match the locations of these items. You then hold the shelf in place and reattach the visor and clip using the stock screw locations, but longer screws (supplied).

Sorry, I got home late and forgot to measure the opening. I'll try to remember tomorrow.

Gotcha, thanks. Then I guess you just run the wires for the cig plugs down the a-pillar or something...?

The driver's side opening is almost 3.75" x 15" and it is about 8" deep. The passenger side is only 3.25" high because the headliner is shaped differently.

Duckhunter:

The wire supplied has a wye with two sets of connectors (one for each receptacle). Yes, I ran them down the A pillar to the fuse box on the side of the dash. The passenger side leads were too short to run under the headliner and into the shelf via the clip opening (which is how I ran the wires in for the driver's side). So I just ran them under the overhead console and into the shelf. A very small amount of wire shows between the console and shelf (maybe 0.25"). It's barely noticable so I didn't worry about it. I was in a hurry, or I would have lengthened the lead.
