It is normal for mine. what kind of load are you hauling? There may be some things you can do differently to help. Using tow/haul, downshifting, and backing out of the throttle all help.

That's quite a bit of weight...but, just in case, my buddy with an '06 3500 was having overheating issues, and had a hard time following me to a race in Bakersfield a couple of weeks ago without stopping a few times pulling the grade to let the truck cool down. I asked if he could hear the big "whooosh" of his fan (fan clutch engage) up the Grapevine. He said that he's never really heard the fan in the past couple of years. He took it to the service dept. this past week and low and behold, his fan clutch was bad. Just for kicks, he pulled his travel trailer up the Cajon pass the other day when it was 100 degrees to test it and sure enough his fan engaged at 210 degrees, and stabilized the water temp just below the 210 degree hash mark.

Towing 5th wheel, I gross at about 25k. It's never overheated. Towed last week in 95 degrees with a/c wide open and it went over 210 a few times, the fan came on and cooled it back down. I usually drive around 65 on the interstate....
