I said I'd let you know how it went, and it went well. I never thought I would attempt a job like this but saving around $4000.00 turns out to be quite an incentive. It turned out I had 4 bad injectors of varying degrees and when they were removed the cups (GM calls them sleeves) came out with the injectors. Two were so seized to the injector they had to be replaced ($28.00 each). I did this when I knew I would not need the truck for a while and took my time working on it over a weekend and a couple evenings. I figure I had about 16 actual hours on the injectors and about 8 on the water pump. When I finished and it actually started it was like having sex for the first time. Well almost, you know what I mean. I feel I can fix just about anything on this truck now. Thanks to 94383Z71 for the DIY write up on the injectors and TheBac for his on the water pump it was pretty easy. Having their knowledge and everything you need on hand before you start is the key. No one should be afraid of attempting these jobs with all the support that the DP members provide. Thanks again to all of you. The way I figure it, I will have saved enough money doing my own service work over the life of this truck that it will just about pay for the next one. Still love my DM.
