: no problems here!
BigBlueChevy 06-29-2009, 10:30 PM Hey ya'll!
I'm here not with a problem, or a question, but rather to give a thanks and share my happiness. Past few weeks have been very busy for me so I just got back to Jersey about 2 days ago from Kansas City from the SkillsUSA nationals. Today, BigBlue, myself, and my 2 younger brothers left Jersey on a 350 mile trip to Pitsburgh to spend a week with the family out here.
And I can proudly say that the old girl held strong the ENTIRE WAY. Didn't skip a single beat. Whether it was idling and doing 10 miles an hour in trafiic... or 85mph at one point it was nothing but smooth. I was very pleased. Even got a thumbs up from an HPCR Cummins I was tailing for about a half hour.
So, like I said, I'm here tonite to send out a very warm thanks to everybody who has had some hand in helping my truck get where it is today. And the *** makes an enourmous difference on the highway :D
deejaaa 06-29-2009, 11:28 PM wow, must be a good feeling. congratulations and i hope to be in your shoes soon.
how is the power/mpg's w/ the ***? are they noticeable?
BigBlueChevy 07-01-2009, 10:10 AM huge power difference with the ***. Not sure on mileage yet. Still gotta go fill her back up and check the damages.
Also consider that I didn't have a TM when I installed the *** so there is a noticable difference etween the two. The first being actual boost on the highway :D
Rafedial1 07-01-2009, 11:12 AM glad to hear the truck is runnin' great. I've heard nothing but good about the ***, and now it's standing the test of time.
BigBlueChevy 07-03-2009, 07:52 PM it most certainly is. And I'm back with the update on the mileage:
roughly 17mpg. (Crew cab, long bed, canopy, 4.10 gears yada yada yada.) I'm more than pleased with that number :D I had the windows down the whole way so I'll try with them closed on the way back sunday. Lets see what kind of mileage she pulls off going home.
Dracor85 07-04-2009, 08:28 AM Bigblue where in Pittsburgh are you? If you need any thing Im just on the north side of Pitt.
Justin
BigBlueChevy 07-04-2009, 09:01 AM I'm not to familiar with the area and havent been here in 3 years. Do you know where Mt. Royal is? Thats the only land mark I can think of. Otherwise all is well.
Same to you, if you need anything lemme know. Though I'm headed back tomorrow
IamDave0887 07-04-2009, 10:47 AM it most certainly is. And I'm back with the update on the mileage:

impressive mileage for a land yacht. :D Best i've seen when driving like an old lady on the highway was 19-21. 21 being when the truck had the stock vac wastegate setup. now i'm at ~19-20 highway, again driving like an old lady instead of at 70 mph. considering how much heavier and longer your truck is(mines an RCLB 2wd w/ 3.73s) that mileage is very impressive.
What i've found that helps bump up my mileage is the Diesel Kleen in the grey bottle. dump that in for the ride back and check your mileage.
I drove from my place to Plattsburgh, NY(20 miles from montreal) which was over 500 miles and i used 5/8 of a tank with the diesel kleen in the tank.
deejaaa 07-05-2009, 10:27 AM ....update on the mileage...............roughly 17mpg...............
that is impressive. what was it before the mods?
DangerousDave 07-05-2009, 03:42 PM Good news, thanks. seems like we don't hear enough these days (except for 6.5 camaros).
2X iamdave on the diesel kleen; I'm at least 1mpg better with 1/2 liter in at the 1/2 tank fill. also put in 1 liter of 100% soy. Driving "like an old lady" for me means 2000rpms , or 4-5lbs of boost, depending on terrain. I get 18mpg. My son gets 22-23, god only knows how, he had it for two separate months, and I pay all the fuel bills. Wife gets +/- 15, and she don't care.
BigBlueChevy 07-05-2009, 04:07 PM I swear by the diesel kleen. That stuff goes in every fill up. I actually just finished the last of my gallon jug coming back today. Yeah I was far from driving like an old lady. I was doing 75 to 80 most of the way back(till we hit Jersey of course:mad:, the moment I merge onto the Jersey Turnpike, it dropped to 35:mad::mad:. Damn Jersey
I gotta go fill her back up again but she was just as good on the way back if not better. I rode with the windows up this time and just had the fan on to circulate air. I'll report back later tonite with the final mileage from the ride back. My mother always bragged about getting better mileage going back when we used to have the old Chevy Venture so lets se what happens.
Dracor85 07-05-2009, 05:45 PM any time i take a trip i allways get worse mileage coming into pittsburgh than i do going away must be the hills or something.
Bigblue I live about a mile from MT Royal!
Justin
BigBlueChevy 07-05-2009, 09:15 PM ahh crap you tell me this now?? lol, next time I'm around there I'll have to drop you a line.
Mileage is in: Looks to be around almost 18mpg! (17.89...) close enough!
Never though I would see that number with this truck considering specs unless I switched final drive gears. When I first bought the truck, she would never do anything better than 14mpg. No matter how lightly and smoothly I ran her. Even on the highway it was 14.
I was limited to about 478 miles when bone stock.
Now... almost a year later, she can do about 612 miles on a full tank.
I'm going to leave, once again, a huge thanks to everybody here for everything they have put forth into assisting me and my rig. This would have not been REMOTLY POSSIBLE without the input from all of you. From simple belt replacement to the issue that brought me here due to the damn PMD.
