Started taking the exhaust manifold out today and managed to get 6 bolts loose. The last, and third from last towards the back of the truck will not budge. Will cutting the heads off the bolts allow for them to come out more easily? I am hesitant to this because we have one that is 'loose' with the pressure off the head, that still comes out wicked hard, so I am not sure if taking the pressure of the heads of the ones we can't get will accomplish anything. Our next option would probably be welding a nut on the end and trying that way, but I am not sure.
Thanks, Jacob
I'd put the rest of the bolts back in, soak them all with PB Blaster and drive it for a couple of days.
The heat and PB might make a difference. If you snap off the bolt head, it might break inside the head. That would be very bad.

Got one of the remaining ones out using an impact, but the last one was stripped from flaky rust etc, so we cut the head off with a torch, and will see if we can weld a nut on the end of it tomorrow and get it out that way. It's weird that 6 went so easy and 2 were so hard. Hope this works :D.
Thanks

i had a couple of em that wouldn't budge so i cut off the heads and used vice grips and they came out after that. my engine was out at the time and i still managed to mess up the manifold.

Well, the new one is in. The last bolt that we cut the head off ended up being seized right up into the hole in the manifold so that's where the sawzall came in. We cut the manifold then used a chisel to pry the slice apart a little to be able to get the manifold loose from the bolt. Once that was done, the bolt was pretty much loose so removing it was not a problem. Putting on the new manifold wasn't really a problem, ended up not using a gasket. Tightened everything up, put the crossover back on, and she is as good as new. No more annoying exhaust leak 'chug' 'chug'.
Did notice quicker spool up with larger warpspeed crossover, but egt's seem to be about the same , maybe even a little higher if that is possible.
