is there anyone that can machine a custom shift lever for me...would like to have threading on the end to add a hurst or B&M shift knob...stock shifter and shift knob are one piece...would like an identical shifter just with thread on the end to add a aftermarket knob. any help?

heres a pick of the one i had made. most any machine shop can make it. be ready for a noisy cab. the stocker has a rubber dampner to reduce the noise. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/garageimage.php?do=full&p=26281&d=1171668730

Why dont you just machine the lever or the handle to fit the application? What is the thread size on the factory shifter? Thread size on the hurst? If they are too different it may be possible to helicoil the knob. Just a few ideas.

is there any way to add some kind of bushing to the bottom, to absorb the vibration noises? The only reason i dont wanna cut the shifter knob off and thread the stock one is ill loose about 5 inches of my stick then and dont wanna have to reach down or make it more uncomfortable to shift when driving. the height and everything is perfect right now.

If the stock knob unscrews then just re thread the new knob to fit the stock stick then no height is modified.

Stock knob is molded on
The isolator is an aluminum slug with the M16x1.5 threads pressed into the steel shifter tube. A rubber sleeve goes between the two pieces to isolate all the noise. I've tried a 1/4" thick rubber washer with a flat washer with limited success. The threads are still in contact with the aluminum shifter. You might be able to cut the stock shifter and press a rod in the top that is threaded or cut it low and weld to the bottom.
I can deal with the noise in the summer but try a three hour drive with the windows up!!!!
See my shifter in garage.

whats the stock shifter made out of...could i cut the stock shifter close to the tranny(so i would still have the rubber isolator) then weld an aluminum peice that got up through the floor and rubber shift boot and then thread the end...seems like a bit of work but to me a new shifter isnt really worth it if i have to listen to tranny noises...i can handle the stock setup over new noises that drive u made! haha
