Well, non-hypothetically speaking..You won't find a dipstick for it ):h

Look on the side of the case....You should see a allen shaped hex plug....one on the bottom of the case (drain), one on the side of the case(fill).
Got Synchro-mesh?

synchromesh is the trans fluid commonly used in gm manual transmissions...Unfortuneately, it's hard to find it anywhere but a gm dealer or lube center..

that truck probably has a nv4500 trans, and it does not use synchromesh... castrol syntorq is the only approved oil in the nv4500...

Castrol Syntorq LTŪ 75w85 GL-4 rated, low temperature, synthetic gear lubricant is the only factory approved lubricant for NV4500 series transmissions. Some other lubricant manufacturers such as Amsoil may have products that are compatible. However, we have yet to see any other lubricant match the specifications of Syntorq LTŪ.

Castrol Syntorq LTŪ is available in quart bottles from Dodge dealers (p/n 4874459) and GM dealers (p/n 12346190). Castrol distributors offer factory sealed 16 gallon drums, plus some repackage the oil in 5 gallon pails. We sell (http://www.quad4x4.com/NV4500FAQ.htm#when) Syntorq LT (http://www.quad4x4.com/NV4500%20Parts.htm)Ū in two quart jugs.
