: 35" on a 8" lift? Or stick with 37"?
Generalg 06-28-2009, 04:30 PM Just purchased a truck. 05 CCSWB Duramax. First diesel and I'm loving it.
Anyhow I need some help/input on tires for an 8" lift. Currently the truck has a Fabtech 8" lift with 37X13.50X22 kumho MT tires and 22" Hulk wheels. The tires are just about shot. They have about 25K on them is all.
What I'm trying to decide is if I should go down to a 35" tire with a 20" wheel? Tires are just to expensive for the 22" wheels, plus I would think it would ride better/smoother with a smaller rim. Unless I could find a killer deal on some 22" tires in a toyo m/t or other like brand.
Anyone have any pics of their 8" lift with a 35" tire running 20" wheels? Or maybe I should go with a 37" tire in a 20" rim size... any thoughts? Searching for 8" lift and 35" tires is about impossible since you can't search by less than 3 letters...
Thanks

countryredneck 06-28-2009, 04:57 PM beleive it or not, my truck rides nicer on 24s then 20s, but could be the tires i have
DMAX Will 06-28-2009, 05:13 PM You could always decrank some and have nicer angles and a little bit less lift up front if you want to run 35s
BigDmax 06-29-2009, 04:58 AM IMO, 35's are too small for an 8" lift. Stick with the 37's.
Generalg 06-29-2009, 09:30 AM Ok i will stick with 37's. Just need to find a deal on some 37" tires on 20" wheels. Anyone need a set of 22" Hulk wheels and Kumho 37" tires?
RENODMAX 06-29-2009, 11:40 AM Decrank to 6 and run 35's
Meeko 06-29-2009, 06:56 PM I had 35s on a 2" key lift and now I have a 6" and my 35s are too small so Im jumping up to 37s as soon as these wear down. 35s are too small for an 8" lift for sure and even a 6" lift in my opinion.
BigDmax 06-29-2009, 08:47 PM 35s are too small for an 8" lift for sure and even a 6" lift in my opinion.
That's why I went 36's.:D
LMMKING 06-30-2009, 12:27 AM 35's look a little small on my 6" also
LovetheDirtyMax 06-30-2009, 01:20 AM 35's look a little small on my 6" also
I agree I can fit thin 37s for sure. And after i throw on the cognito 10" it'll have that towering look :D
Anyone need a set of 22" Hulk wheels and Kumho 37" tires?
I need a set if you are close enough and they are the right price..
CStevenson 06-30-2009, 08:42 AM 1 Was the truck regeared? if it was 35's might rev your rpm too much on the interstate giving you bad mileage if not then you would get a bunch of power back going to 35's.
2 What kind of CVC angles do you have? if you can lower your torsion bars get the 35 it will ride better. If they are already lowered than stick with the 37's it will look better
3 you already have the 22" wheels so it seems like new tires and wheels might cost more than just replacing the tires?

I'm in Kansas. Where are you located? I'd like to get $1600 out of the set of wheels/tires. Or would trade for your wheels/tires...
carter_44 06-30-2009, 09:46 AM on an 8'' fabtech i have run both 37s and 35s and not a problem on either one. 35s dont look strange either with that big of a lift but thats just me. i dont like the "i tried to stuff too big of tires on my truck" look but either of those sizes will work for you just fine.
Generalg 06-30-2009, 09:48 AM Here's a pic of the my truck.

07BlackSilveradoHD 07-29-2009, 01:21 AM wanna trade lifts? if ur trying to accomplish the 35s i have the 6 inch fabtech and i want to run 38s under an 8 in fabtech

This is 8" fabtech with 35s & 20s. Looks good to me.
Generalg 07-29-2009, 11:31 AM Well I found a good deal on some wheels and tires. Couldn't pass up on not buying them. They are XD Diesel's with Cooper STT 35" Crappy cellphone picture...
hcaliber 07-29-2009, 12:13 PM i run both as well, 37s preportion better but 35s give you more fender clearence, no rubing, easyer on front end and fuel milege, also cheaper. and handle better on slippery roads
