I use either this product by Amsoil or Bio-diesel. Studies have shown that the bio-diesel is actually the best cleaner for injectors. You can find the study in the maintenance and fluids section on this site. Here's the Amsoil product.

Supposely, we should stay away from additives that use a solvent in the newer engines.
Diesel Kleen has a solvent but is suppose to be safe for the newer engines with dpf.
Lucas Fuel treatment has NO solvents. I don`t know about Standaline
Some of others are bad for seals, dpf etc, etc. supposely.
I use Diesel Kleen and Lucas, what ever mood I`m in.
"They work fine for me".

Power Service or Amsoil Diesel Concentrate or FPPF. There are others. If you run them with every tank your injectors should be clean.

It would seem with the multi thousand psi injection pulses that they would stay clean just from sheer pressure? correct me if I'm wrong, but it would seem as though the only things to get dirty is before the injectors. If particles were making it through to the injectors you would have guys with bad injectors due to them being misshaped because of dirt and contaminates running through at what 20K plus psi? Therefor making the wholes larger and sloppy sprays.

I only have 24K miles on her. So I don;t think it is needed, just wanted to see who else was offered this "service" and what it really does or when it would be needed.

2 to 5% BioDiesel every tank + Stanadyne.

Stealerships and others will say you need all kinds of things. Read your manual. Just say no to engine flush, tranny flush, radiator flush and "injector cleaning"........

Moved to Additive/supplements.

I run Bio in my trucks. Bio has a natural solvent property and lubricates the system better than any additive ever could. I do add 2 cycle when I cant find Bio.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but i think you have "alcohols" and "solvents" confused. The common rail systems like the duramax warn against alcohols as they allow the water to mix with diesel and be injected rather than separated at the fuel filter. The water reputedly flashes and erodes the injector tips and we all know it rusts the non-plated steel fuel lines.

Every additive (EVERY) is a solvent. If it mixes with diesel --> by definition it's a solvent.

I did this at 30K at the dealer and saw a 2 mpg increase in mileage. Since they charged $150 I decided to make a tool to hook up to the fuel system and they used Wynns Diesel Purge. Its about $14 a can and you use one can per service. I bought a case and do it every 15-20K miles I can tell the difference and it shows up on the DIC immediately. I am sold on it I still put Diesel service in my fuel even with that the Wynns service makes a difference. Good luck
