: A Ford PSD gets schooled AND a ticket!
Biterman 05-07-2005, 10:12 AM So I am cruising down Cajon pass on the I-15 when I look in my rearview mirror and see a jacked up F-250 coming at me from a few hundred yards away driving it like it's a Boxster.:ro) I anticioate my turbo lag and start to spool up so that when he arrives, my truck takes off like a rocket and we are now side by side doing around 90 mph. :cool2: He looks over at me and gives me a surprised laugh and reaches for his triple tree on his A-pillar and twists something. Knowing what he is doing I stomped on it the same time he did and I am pulling away from him pretty easily.:muahaha: He is about 100 yards behind me and we are doing around 115-117mph. I know the road as it is my commute route to the office and know that there is a little road behind a runaway truck ramp that an "ocifer of da law" sometimes hangs out at to catch bored idiots like us coming down the hill, so I am looking for his front bumper and sure enough, there he is! I hit my brakes to bleed off as much speed as possible before passing him and at the same time hit my trailer button which engages the engine brake. I am slowing pretty good without the tell-tale brake lights on and am probably down around 85 before I got to the cop. The Ford thinks he will gain some face by blowing by me since it was obvious even with Mr. Banks' help, he couldn't keep up with my mods, so he is still doing what I can only guess is way over 100mph as he passed me by like I was standing still. At my speed, even though I had slowed down, I had gotten the Law's attention but he quickly forgot me when this Ford blew by me in plain view of the cop. The cop hit his lights and took chase quickly catching the Ford. I can only imagine the story he had for this cop trying to explain away a reckless driving ticket! :iamwithst Stupid thing to do, I know, but it was a FORD!
Moral of the story:
When you get thumped romping down the road, take it like a man and let it go. Oh, and if you see a Chevy dually with a 5 inch exhaust tip, assume the worst and stay clear if you don't want to be shamed in front of your girlie.
All in all, it was a good way to start my day....:grd:

RonJT 05-07-2005, 01:08 PM Biterman,
You had the "Home field Advantage". That is going to be an expensive ticket for Mr. Ford.
mannytranny 05-07-2005, 01:15 PM IIRC theyll take away your license for anything over 100 in CA now........Not sure if that it exactly, but I know they stiffened the fines quite a bit. If he was doing 115 when they caught him, I bet hes shopping for a bicycle right now.
dpower 05-07-2005, 01:59 PM nice kill.......:ro)
They might take his license away, but he can just get a fake one just like all the illegals!!!:)
dozerboy 05-07-2005, 04:58 PM :lol2:However, according to the news here is Socal the # of illegals crossing the border have gone down like 90%. :lying:
h8nopi 05-07-2005, 06:05 PM YEAH RIGHT!!!!:lol2: If that # has gone down it's only because they've "legalized" them or they started using blind people to do the counting
hdmax 05-07-2005, 10:49 PM I was not aware that the PPE did away with the top speed limiter, and upped the rpm. As if you are running stock tires, there is not way you can hit anything close to 117 mph without more then 3250 rpm. Just wondering.
I agree with h8nope,
the number hasn't gone down unless there are some blind counters working the numbers. Maybe California should follow the Arizona examples of "Common Sense Citizen Border Patrol." God knows the government lost all its common sense when it comes to border patrol! One could probably even take the last 6 words out of the previous sentence!

Just wondering. One of the questions on my PPE programmer is "Do you want to remove the top speed limiter?" YUP!
I wasn't watching the RPM's but I WAS watching the Speedo... oh, and I was only in level 3, not even the EXTREME TUNE..... Still smoked him.... Always a skeptic in every group, eh?

When someone comes up with a STORY about how they beat some (State X brand here!) and got picked up, yet the STORY teller got away. I will call you on it every time. I'm not a skeptic, just realistic!
-:t
Everyone else says that PPE does not change the rpm, or raise the top speed limit, yet you go nearly 120 mph Censored

dieselrcr337 05-08-2005, 07:44 PM Actually i belevie it raises it to 118. because i have hit it before. I carry my truck calibrated for my slicks tho. i beleve i ran out of gear or hit the limiter around 125(using my GPS) with my 315's. calibrated for my smaller slicks.

I take it that was way before hitting the 138, right? I've seen a few cops on that stretch as well, but I don't travel it on a daily basis. You should've taken the 138 towards Palmdale (LACR) and headed down the 1/4 mile and seen what your rig could do!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif Nice kill! Oh yeah, forgot to mention, PPE does remove the speedlimiter (as I've hit 115 also).http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Thanks for getting my back. Also I have one correection to make: My speedo is a little off and after being called out on my kill I decided to go to the GPS. It was not 115 I hit, it was 112 ):h My bad. I did go out and hit 115 though. My exhaust temps were at 940, RPM's about 3500.
Jeez, last time I share a story on this site.......

They are working on that right now.

IIRC from the massive PPE topics, they have 3600-3800rpm and the speed bumped up (120?).

Exhaust temps only 940? That sounds pretty good. Is the PPE one of the "cooler" running tuners? How is it for smoothness, and low end grunt?
