How do I go about changing the bulbs on my radio? RPO for the radio is UPO,UQ3

Do I have to go through the dash? How easy is it to take the dash apart?

You should just be able to pop the buttons off to get to the bulbs.I haven't had to do this myself, but from what other people are saying, thats all that needs done.

I helped my son replace the lights on a 1996 Monte Carlo. We pulled the radio, and the faceplate will come off with some difficulty (a lot of little places to push) then we were able to replace most of them. As I remember a couple were not replacable, but we got enough to help. We did it on a Sunday and the local NAPA store had some bulbs.

Update.

I ended up bring it into a car audio shop. They removed the front dash and pulled out the radio, removed the front faceplate, and replaced it with a new one. I never knew the radio had so many buttons that lid up.

My advice is to leave your dash light setting on low. I think the lights will last the longest. I had to have the radio lights replaced in my suburban, under warranty. I used to run my dash lights bright, now I set them low.

I'll second your advice. I bought this truck used, I noticed the last owner had it set on it's brightest. I do set my dash lights to the point where it just starts to dim.
