I'm sure Im posting in the wrong section, if so please move mods.
I'd like to convert my 2wd truck into a 4wd. Id sell or trade but with the market in the shiiter Id rather just convert if possible and afforable.
Questions:
Has anyone here done this?
What would you guys recommend doing a solid axle or going with the stock gm set up?
What do you think Id be looking at as for as pricing?
Would I need to re-gear the rear end?
If I went with a solid axle could I get the factory electronics to work with it?

Not to be a smart a$$ but the headace & aggravation I think you would be better off buy a good used truck, now for the experience it would be nice project to do, something you would be proud of. But weigh out your options good luck on what ever you do.:D:D

The easiest would be and better would be straight axle with manual lock-outs. Then you need to find a transfer case with manual shift. If going automatic then you need to basically look for button operated transfer case, front end, wire harnesses, and reprogramming of bcm I believe. The manual setup would be the better and cheapest setup. I say trying the other you be in a deeper hole than if you trade and take a hit.

This truck was bought new as a 2wd. I read a write up on it in Diesel Power. If I where to do a SAS I would buy a 2wd too.
